Full Job Description

Healthcare Practice Solutions, Inc. Is seeking an Executive Director for an Ambulatory Surgery Center located in Springfield, MA. The ASC is a physician-owned, multi-specialty center, with 2 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms. We are seeking an experienced leader who can take charge of this well-established center, and drive its continued growth and success.

POSITION SUMMARY: Plans, organizes and directs all functions and activities associated with business or financial affairs of the center including but not limited to: budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, general accounting, regulatory compliance, human resources, purchasing and inventory control, telecommunications, information systems, medical records, contract negotiations and marketing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Administration, or related field or at least five (5) years demonstrated experience in administration/management of an ambulatory surgery center or similar setting. Fundamental management skills of planning, organizing, facilitating, coordinating, collaborating and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with organizational subordinates, peers and superiors. Strong computer skills including MS Office suite, email and time management software. Familiarity with surgery center software systems preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Report to the governing body on key performance indicators including start times, turnover, financial performance and patient satisfactions scores and productivity (quarterly and as needed).

2. Develops appropriate admission and discharge procedures and assures that pre-admission criteria are appropriately met.

3. Researches and prepares cost reduction proposals and implements them as applicable.

4. Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to appropriate team members.

5. Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure personnel policy development and communication to staff to achieve consistency in labor and employee relations.

6. Serves as resource and role model for staff.

7. Plans, evaluates, recommends and implements new initiatives when appropriate.

8. Selects and hires employees according to established guidelines. Monitors, coaches, develop and evaluate performance of staff on an ongoing basis in accordance with applicable performance standards.

9. Assures compliance with all Clinic policies and procedures and governmental regulations pertaining to:

· Controlled substances and legend drugs, including sample medications.

· Infection control.

· Patient confidentiality.

· Quality improvement and quality assurance.

· Emergency codes and evacuation

· Professional licensure

· DOH, Medicare AAAHC, MQC and all other voluntary and regulatory requirements.

10. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, employees, managers, and physicians. Serve as the liaison between the center and the surgeons’ offices, to ensure efficient block-time utilization, cost-containment for supplies and equipment, and physician satisfaction.

11. Assists with the development of patient education material.

12. Supports and promotes a positive image of ASC when dealing with patients and others inside and outside the organization.

13. Monitors patient service feedback and contributes to the process of resolving complaints and service issues.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:

Interpersonal: Client oriented. Ability to process patient and public inquiries with poise and efficiency. Actively participates in the development of a healthy work environment. Uses interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relations with employees, patients, organizations and the public. Exceptional communications skills; oral and written.

Critical Thinking: Above average ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and phone calls while maintaining a professional courteous demeanor. Must be able to handle patient confrontations in a positive manner. Above average ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.

Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including email, word processing, and Excel. Knowledge of medical office procedures, procedural coding, insurance operating procedures, managed care contracts and claims processing guidelines. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
