DATA CENTER EXPERIENCE WITH AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED
Position Overview
A leading Electrical Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the full life cycle of large-scale commercial electrical projects, with a strong emphasis on Data Center, Mission Critical, and power distribution–intensive builds.
This role is responsible for overall electrical project execution, including contract administration, budget and labor management, schedule performance, equipment procurement, second-tier subcontractor oversight, GC and owner communication, risk management, quality control, testing and commissioning support, and project close-out.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, highly organized electrical construction leader with a proven track record delivering complex power distribution scopes in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full project life cycle from estimate handoff and preconstruction support through energization, commissioning, final close-out, and turnover
- Manage overall project administration, including prime subcontract agreements, purchase orders, electrical permits, change orders, insurance and bonding requirements, and risk mitigation documentation
- Lead procurement and buy-out of long-lead electrical equipment, including switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busway, cable, conduit, and lighting packages
- Manage vendor release schedules, submittal approvals, factory witness testing, delivery sequencing, storage, and site logistics for critical electrical equipment
- Review scopes of work and negotiate second-tier subcontracts (low voltage, fire alarm, testing agencies, trenching, core drilling, specialty installers) to ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment with contract documents
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project budgets, labor budgets, cost reports, and cost-to-complete forecasts by cost code
- Track labor productivity and earned value against installed units and budgeted man-hours; identify variances early and implement corrective actions to protect project profitability
- Monitor material and commodity price escalation, quantity variances, and equipment cost exposure throughout the project
- Oversee the Schedule of Values, billing cycles, pay applications, stored material billings, retainage, receivables, and cash flow performance
- Manage the full change order process with the General Contractor and owner, including proposed, pending, approved, and disputed changes
- Track field directives, T&M tickets, back charges, owner-driven changes, and vendor change requests to ensure accurate documentation and cost recovery
- Collaborate with General Foremen and Superintendents to develop manpower loading plans, prefabrication strategies, installation sequences, and critical path milestones
- Support and participate in monthly schedule updates, delay narratives, recovery plans, and stakeholder reporting
- Coordinate closely with the General Contractor, owner, engineer of record, mechanical and controls trades, commissioning agents, and inspection authorities to drive successful project execution
- Lead internal cost reviews, project meetings, GC coordination meetings, vendor calls, and subcontractor coordination sessions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for GC and owner communication, issue resolution, project reporting, and overall client satisfaction
- Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, engineers, distributors, manufacturers' reps, inspectors, and commissioning agents
- Enforce project-specific quality control programs, including mock-ups, first-in-place reviews, benchmark inspections, termination and torque verification, nonconformance tracking, and punch list management
- Drive timely completion of submittals, RFIs, BIM and trade coordination drawings, hanger and support layouts, procurement logs, and close-out documentation
- Support NETA acceptance testing, megger and insulation resistance testing, breaker coordination and settings, arc flash studies, load bank testing, and integrated systems testing
- Implement and maintain project risk management strategies, including timely notices, documentation, issue tracking, and contractual compliance
- Review second-tier pay applications for accuracy, executed change order alignment, lien compliance, and deliverable completion
- Partner with accounting and operations teams to ensure timely payments, proper cost coding, accurate labor reporting, and reliable financial forecasting
- Plan close-out activities early, including as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals, panel schedules, testing reports, commissioning documentation, punch lists, owner training, and phased energization and turnover
- Champion electrical safety culture, including NFPA 70E compliance, energized work permitting, lockout/tagout, and site-specific safety planning
- Mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and administrative staff on project controls, documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, and client communication
- Promote a collaborative, solutions-driven team culture focused on accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement

- Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate electrical drawings, one-lines, riser diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and contract documents
- Demonstrated success managing budgets, labor productivity, schedules, vendors, GC and owner relationships, change orders, and project documentation
- Strong financial acumen, including labor and material cost forecasting, cash flow management, budget tracking, and exposure mitigation
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, high-pressure construction environments
- Proficiency with construction and electrical management software (such as Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, ConEst, or McCormick), scheduling tools, document control platforms, and Microsoft Office applications
