Full Job Description

SFI is looking for Welders with 3 years or more experience in tank building.

General Summary:

Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble parts or tanks, with assistance from Bay Supervisor or Master Craftsman. This position is classified as a safety sensitive position, see Limitations and Disclaimer for additional information.

Essential Job Functions:

Studies engineering drawings and blueprints, locates and marks bending and cutting lines, and lays out and examines metal stock to ensure specifications are met.
Aligns and fits parts, moves parts into position, and secures parts for welding.
Verifies conformance of workpieces to specifications, and prepares completed work to be checked by supervisors.
Sets up and operates fabricating machines and welding equipment.
MIG, TIG, Flux, Core, stick, and tack-welds parts and tank seams.
Completes manufacturing documentation in a timely manner.
Follows all safety guidelines as noted in Safety Manual.
Assists all supervisors and performs other duties as needed and directed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to pass all basic Welder tests as well as pass GTAW, GMAW, FCAW processes.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Knowledge of welding/grinding procedures.
Must be able to layout, fit up and weld heads, shells, legs and parts on a tank.
Must be able to burn and prep the holes for fitting.

Ability to read cut sheets, blueprints, and tape measures
Ability to keep hand and arm steady when moving or holding arm and hand in one position.
Ability to meet budgeted hours.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Day Shift - Monday -Thursday 7am-5:30pm
Night Shift - Monday - Thursday 6pm-4:30am
Weekends - Friday/Saturday/Sunday 6am-6:30pm
$25-$30 per hour based on skills
