Full Job Description

Software Engineer

Clearance: TS/SCI eligible

Air Force Research Laboratory

130k-135k/year - based on years of experience

Onsite - National Space Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson AFB

We are seeking a mid-level software engineer to build secure, scalable REST services and modern UI features using Java and TypeScript/Angular. You will contribute across the stack, own deliverables in Agile sprints, and help improve CI/CD, automated testing, and documentation practices in an enterprise/government program environment. Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and test full-stack features using Java (REST APIs) and Angular (UI)
Build and consume RESTful APIs; integrate with internal/external services
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines; automate builds, tests, and deployments
Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, UI) and support code quality standards
Participate in code reviews and contribute to secure, maintainable, performant solutions
Apply security-minded development practices and support DevSecOps/secure SDLC expectations
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across application and API layers; support defect triage and root cause analysis
Collaborate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies; manage work in Jira and document in Confluence
Produce clear technical documentation and operational runbooks

Basic Qualifications:

3–6 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong Java experience (e.g., building REST APIs; familiarity with Spring/Spring Boot)
Proficient in TypeScript and Angular for enterprise web applications
Hands-on experience with Git and pull request workflows
Experience with build/package tools (e.g., Maven/Gradle, npm)
Demonstrated experience designing and integrating APIs using JSON/HTTP best practices
Practical experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and using Jira/Confluence
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
Familiarity with test frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Jest/Jasmine, Cypress/Karma
Knowledge of OWASP/secure coding practices and cloud/container fundamentals
