Position Summary
We are seeking an Oregon Licensed Funeral Director / Embalmer who shares our commitment to helping families create meaningful remembrance experiences and lasting memorials.
The successful candidate will work closely with families, clergy, cemeteries, healthcare professionals, and fellow team members to coordinate meaningful arrangements and ceremonies with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail.
Our Eugene and Cottage Grove locations operate as integrated organization, with staff working collaboratively across locations to support one another and the families we serve. While this position is primarily based in Eugene, regular work and support at our Cottage Grove location is an essential part of the role.
Licensed Funeral Directors participate in a shared evening, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation with other members of the funeral directing staff. We maintain a dedicated First-Call Team to assist with after-hours removals and first-call responsibilities; however, licensed staff are expected to take some first calls, respond to families after hours when needed, and work collaboratively with the First-Call Team to ensure compassionate and timely service to our community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Meet with families to arrange services.
- Educate families regarding available service, memorialization, and disposition options.
- Coordinate and direct service arrangements with fellow team members, vendors, cemeteries, and clergy.
- Prepare and embalm remain for viewings, services and ship-outs in accordance with professional standards and applicable regulations.
- Participate in a shared evening, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Build positive relationships with families, clergy, hospice personnel, nursing facilities, hospitals, and community partners.
- Work collaboratively with team members.
Required Qualifications
- Oregon Funeral Service Practitioner and Embalmer License, or ability to obtain Oregon reciprocal licensure.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to work regularly at both Eugene and Cottage Grove locations.
- Ability to participate in a shared rotating on-call schedule.
· Must live in the area (30 miles) or be willing to relocate upon hire.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling VIP arrangements and large services.
- Experience with crematory and cemetery operations.

Schedule
