Systems West Engineers is seeking a mechanical systems focused Commissioning Technician who thrives on completing work thoroughly, supporting project teams, and ensuring mechanical, electrical, and control systems operate as intended.

What You’ll Do
As a Commissioning Technician, you will play a hands-on role in the commissioning process—conducting field investigations, supporting functional testing, reviewing documentation, and helping the team ensure high-performance systems for our clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform construction inspections and field investigations under supervision of the Commissioning Provider.
- Review construction submittals related to commissioning scope.
- Develop construction checklists used for field verification.
- Assist with the development of functional test plans.
- Support and conduct functional performance testing, including testing of peripheral systems with minor supervision.
- Develop training documentation for building operations staff.
- Assist with review of operations and maintenance manuals.
What You Bring
You bring strong technical curiosity, practical field insight, and the ability to deliver high-quality work with consistency and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
- A 2-year technical degree in mechanical systems, or equivalent; and 2 years of related field experience; or 6+ years of related field experience.
- Field experience with HVAC, central plants, healthcare systems, and/or building automation systems.
- Exposure to various facility types (education, healthcare, labs, civic, data centers, military, aquatic centers, central plants).
- Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fieldwork and documentation.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and basic internet tools.

Work Environment & Conditions
- Fieldwork on construction sites (~50%); computer/office-based work (~50%).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
