Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Opening Deli Cook to join our culinary team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing fresh, delicious deli items to kickstart our daily operations. Your enthusiasm for food preparation, food safety, and exceptional service will help create a welcoming environment for our customers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and contribute to a vibrant food service setting, ensuring every guest receives high-quality meals from the moment we open our doors.

The hours for this shift are 5am to 1pm 5 days a week. There are opportunities for overtime with holidays, covering vacations, or covering other shifts.

Responsibilities

Prepare and assemble a variety of deli items, including breakfast biscuits, sandwiches, salads, and various bakery items including pies, cobblers, and cakes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
Follow established recipes and menu plans to deliver consistent, flavorful dishes that delight our customers.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels, rotating products, and notifying management of supply needs.
Set up the deli station before opening, including food prep, equipment checks, and ensuring all necessary ingredients are available.
Engage with customers in a friendly manner, taking orders and providing excellent food service experience.
Support team members during busy periods by assisting with food handling, meal preparation, and catering tasks as needed.

Requirements

Previous experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is highly desirable.
A background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within restaurant or culinary environments.
Experience working in fine dining or high-end food service settings is a plus.
Demonstrated knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques required for deli items.
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices essential for maintaining a safe kitchen environment.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
