Community Programs Manager
About Flag Star Football
Flag Star Football is a leading youth flag football organization serving thousands of athletes and families across the DC Metro area. We use flag football as a vehicle to build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and community.
We are looking for a Community Programs Manager who can help us deepen our impact across the communities we serve — someone who is equally comfortable shaking hands with community leaders, leading programs in the field, and managing the systems behind the work.
The Role
The Community Programs Manager will lead Flag Star’s school partnerships, community programs, scholarship initiatives, and outreach efforts.
This is a boots-on-the-ground, relationship-driven role. You will represent Flag Star in schools, community centers, nonprofits, and neighborhood events while building the partnerships and systems that allow our programs to grow.
You will be responsible for both front-facing relationship management and behind-the-scenes program administration.
Key Responsibilities
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, nonprofits, community organizations, and local leaders.
- Identify and develop new partnerships, particularly in communities where access to youth sports is limited.
- Serve as a visible Flag Star representative at community meetings, events, and partner sites.
- Manage approximately 20 active community partnerships annually.
Programs & Events
- Coordinate and support Flag Star’s school, after-school, PE, and community programs.
- Plan and execute 10–12 community events and initiatives annually.
- Coordinate staffing, equipment, schedules, communications, and logistics for community programming.
- Work directly with coaches, staff, schools, and community partners to ensure programs are executed at a high standard.
Scholarships & Community Access
- Manage Flag Star’s scholarship program from application through award and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting related to scholarship recipients and community programming.
- Identify opportunities to expand Flag Star’s reach to families and communities with limited access to organized youth sports.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain program calendars, partner records, participation data, and reporting systems.
- Track program outcomes and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Support grant applications, community reports, and other materials that demonstrate Flag Star’s impact.
- Help develop and improve systems as our community programming continues to grow.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Relationship-driven and genuinely enjoys meeting people and building trust.
- A strong communicator who can represent Flag Star professionally in the community.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple programs and partnerships simultaneously.
- Energized by youth development, community engagement, and sports.
- Comfortable balancing field work with administrative responsibilities.
- Willing to get out from behind the desk and be where the work is happening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in community programming, youth development, education, nonprofit work, sports, or a related field.
- Experience managing partnerships, programs, or events.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and common administrative tools.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Benefits include:
- 100% employer-sponsored medical insurance
- Paid time off
- Paid holidays
- Professional development opportunities
- Opportunity to work directly with schools, community organizations, and youth-serving partners across the DC Metro area
