Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiovascular OR Tech (CVOR Tech) for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a broad range of cardiovascular, vascular, and surgical case experience.

Details

Works in the Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) of a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
Average daily census of 10 patients across 4 OR rooms
4x10-hour day shifts, 6:15 AM – 4:45 PM
On-call required once or twice per week, plus every third weekend
Weekend requirements include on-call every third weekend
Floating is required for all travelers — within the hospital (Main OR or Baylis Day Surgery) or to a nearby affiliate facility
Cardiovascular cases include: Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Atrial Septal Defect Repair, CABG, EVAR, Mitral Valve Replacement, Pericardial Window, and TAVR
Vascular cases include: AAA Repair, Aortobifemoral Bypass, AV Fistula Repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft, Laparoscopic-Assisted Cases, TEVAR, and Vein Stripping
General surgery cases include: Hernia Repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic-Assisted Procedures, and Whipple
Thoracic cases include: Lung Resection/Thoracotomy, Mediastinoscopy, and VATS
Endoscopic procedures include: Bronchoscopy, EGD, and Laparoscopic-Assisted Cases
Trauma cases include: Amputations, Gunshot/Stab Wounds, and MVA (multiple injuries)
Charting via Cerner EMR
Scrubs are provided by the facility
Free parking permit available (form completed during orientation)

Requirements

Active IL RN license required
Active BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
Prior CVOR experience required
Experience in General OR, Teaching Hospital, and Trauma settings required
Proficiency with cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, endoscopic, general surgery, and trauma cases as listed in the job details
Fire Safety skills/experience required
Experience with case carts and electrosurgical units required
Proficiency in Aseptic Technique, Isolation Precautions, Laser Safety, Sharps Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) required
SSN and DOB required for consideration

First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction for this role
Travel pairs are not accepted
Candidates must be present in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to the compliance hard deadline to meet fingerprinting requirements
Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be approved; additional RTO beyond 5 days requires facility approval
Schedule change requests and additional RTO should be discussed directly with the hiring manager
Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
