Full Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist to join our front office team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an essential role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment while ensuring the efficient operation of our busy outpatient clinic.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This position requires excellent customer service, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome patients, visitors, vendors, and pharmaceutical representatives in a professional and courteous manner.
Check patients in and out for appointments.
Register new and existing patients and maintain accurate demographic information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Verify insurance eligibility, patient information, and HIPAA documentation.
Schedule new patient appointments and follow-up visits using the practice management system.
Create, process, and maintain accurate patient charts and medical records.
Scan and upload patient documentation, including insurance cards, authorizations, laboratory results, and other pertinent records into the EMR.
Collect patient copays, deductibles, and other applicable payments.
Assist patients with the intake process and ensure required paperwork is completed prior to their appointment.
Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient questions, and direct calls to the appropriate staff member.
Issue specimen collection containers to patients when needed.
Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of a busy mental health and addiction treatment practice.

Qualifications

Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a medical receptionist, administrative assistant, or in a similar healthcare office role.
Previous experience in a medical, behavioral health, or addiction treatment setting is preferred.
Experience using an electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding is a plus.
Strong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Schedule

Full-time position
Hours: 7:20 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
