Full Job Description

The Front Desk Clerk will assist patients with registration and checking in and out of their appointments. This role may interact with patients in person or via phone.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Greet patients Interact with patients, doctors and patients’ family members, schedule appointments
Update patient demographics in electronic health record
Scan insurance cards and pertinent ID cards
Obtain proper forms (ie: advanced directives and financial responsibility forms)
Answer incoming phone calls
Process medical records requests
Triage incoming faxes
Scan outside medical records into patient charts
Reschedule patient appointments
Back up for incoming referral and consult requests
Maintain office and sleep lab charges into electronic system
Other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience at a medical practice is desirable
Able to communicate in person, over the phone, and in writing
Excellent communication and patient care skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
Well organized and attentive to detail
Ability to work in a team environment
Microsoft office proficiency
Regular and consistent use of keyboard and mouse is necessary
May require satisfactory completion of a criminal background check

Frequent use of speech to share information through oral communication
Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry
Frequent repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Occasional standing and walking
The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects up to 25 pounds

Job Location

This is a float position that may require work at Dayton, Centerville, Springfield and Troy offices. While you may primarily be assigned to one location all staff may be asked to perform this role at any of the locations depending on staffing needs.
