Full Job Description

Overview

Our busy, happy household is looking for a warm, capable, and organized House Manager to help keep our home running smoothly. We want someone who takes pride in their work and makes our house feel like a home.

What You'll Do

Laundry: Washing, drying, folding, ironing, and putting away with care, including linens and the occasional delicate item.

Housekeeping: Keeping our home clean, tidy, and welcoming with daily tidying and regular cleaning.

Organizing: Closets, pantries, junk drawers. You love creating systems that actually stick.

Meal Prep: Planning and preparing wholesome, high-quality meals using minimally processed ingredients — we're particular about ingredient quality and love a well-stocked fridge of grab-and-go options made the right way.

Childcare & School Pickup: Picking up our elementary school-aged child from school in DC 3 days per week and driving to activities. Warmth and patience a must, good with logistics, on time, and prepared.

Grocery Shopping & Errands: Keeping the pantry stocked, running household errands, handling returns, and picking up dry cleaning.

Household Inventory: Noticing when we're low on paper towels before we do, and restocking supplies and essentials.

Vendor & Home Coordination: Scheduling and being present for repairs, deliveries, cleaners, or contractors, and keeping track of home maintenance needs.

Mail & Packages: Sorting mail and managing packages and returns.

Seasonal & Special Projects: Holiday prep and decorating, deep-clean days, closet changeovers, and party prep.

Pet Care: Feeding and coordinating vet/grooming appointments for our dog.

Who You Are

You have experience in house management, housekeeping, nannying, or a similar role, and you're comfortable around children (CPR and first aid certification is a plus). You're a self-starter who notices what needs doing without being asked. You're trustworthy, discreet, and reliable, with a warm attitude and a good sense of humor. You're comfortable with shared calendars, shopping lists, and text updates. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required for daily school pickups and errands.

Schedule Full-time, Monday–Friday. Hours vary by day between 9:00am–5:00pm and 10:00am–6:00pm.

Housing Live-in basement apartment optional.

Compensation $30-$40/hour
