Full Job Description

Job Title: Account Manager

Position Summary

The Account Manager is fully accountable for the execution, performance, and outcomes of their assigned accounts. This role owns all internal and external oversight related to client relationships, crew management, safety, operational execution, and financial performance. While internal support functions are leveraged, accountability is never delegated, the Account Manager maintains full ownership of day-to-day responsibilities, KPIs, and results.

This position requires a strong understanding of performance data, metrics, and team contributors that support weekly reporting. The Account Manager is a field-focused, relationship-driven leader with a heavy emphasis on building trust with both employees and clients to drive retention, growth, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Client Interactions & Business Development

Maintain proactive engagement with all assigned clients, with weekly touchpoints and a strong preference for in-person visits.
Plan and schedule client visits in advance; minimum expectation of one client interaction per day.
Treat every client interaction as a business development opportunity; develop a strong understanding of Spartan’s services and value proposition.
Become proficient in all Spartan service offerings and confidently communicate Spartan differentiators.
Participate in quarterly client interactions to ensure alignment and effective communication between Spartan’s differentiators.
Ensure introduction to and active engagement with all designated focus customers.
Provide timely updates, proactively resolve issues, and build long-term, trust-based client relationships.
Maintain a thorough understanding of client MSAs, rate sheets, markups, schedules, overtime rules, and commercial terms.
Understand margin profiles by client and work type; prioritize high-margin work while managing low-margin activity appropriately.

Crew & Field Leadership

Complete three (3) site safety audits per week, rotating across crews and clients.
Partner with safety to ensure audits meet expectations.
Emphasis is on incident prevention, not reaction.
Build strong, trust-based relationships with all employees under your management.
Minimize office time—value is created in the field with crews and customers.
Enforce Spartan and client-specific HSE policies and lead safety discussions.
Serve as the primary point of contact during incidents, ensuring:
Immediate client communication
Accurate, fact-based reporting (no speculation)
Follow-up actions are documented, tracked, and closed

Office, Systems & Administrative Responsibilities

Learn and effectively utilize Spartan systems for time entry and reporting.
Review and submit time daily—no exceptions.
Ensure all tickets, timesheets, and invoices are accurate and submitted on time.
Hold employees accountable, including conducting difficult conversations when necessary; ensure the right people are on the bus.
Maintain full responsibility for LSRA completion, fleet inspections, and all daily and weekly submissions, do not rely on functional groups.
Learn candidate screening and talent sourcing through Indeed and employee referrals.
Execute all hiring, terminations, and disciplinary write-ups in Spartan systems.

Leadership, Accountability & Growth

Own and manage KPIs within your area; actively identify opportunities to reduce overhead, control spending, and improve operational efficiency.
Define and execute a realistic growth plan, including headcount or crew additions within the first six months.
Identify opportunities to elevate and grow the Carlsbad and West Texas business.
Submit a daily report every day, critical for visibility, planning, and growth.
Communicate proactively and frequently; over-communicate and never assume.
Plan your week around required weekly meetings and structure remaining time to maximize field presence and client engagement.

Qualifications & Requirements

Willing and able to live in or relocate to West Texas or the Carlsbad, NM area.
Bachelors Degree
Spanish-speaking proficiency is a plus but not required.
5 plus years of oil and gas industry experience
Ability to lift over 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in field environments.
Willingness to work flexible and necessary hours to support crews, clients, and operational needs.
Strong ability to sell and excel in face-to-face client interactions
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with employees and clients.
If you've volunteered for service for over 6 months - this is a plus

Compensation / Benefits

Competitive pay, commensurate with experience and performance - total package should be over $100k.
