Executive Chef – Defining Elevated Culinary Experiences

We are seeking an Executive Chef to create and lead the culinary vision for one of the Caribbean's most anticipated hotel openings. The Botany is a secluded, 20-villa luxury resort opening in 2026 on the western tip of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Set within the Preserve at Botany Bay, where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, The Botany will offer an intimate expression of luxury rooted in thoughtful service, exceptional cuisine, and a profound sense of place.

This is not simply an opportunity to oversee a kitchen. It is an opportunity to define the culinary identity of an entire resort from the ground up. From refined evening dining and intimate in-villa experiences to relaxed beachfront lunches, weddings, celebrations, and private buyouts, every meal should feel intentional, memorable, and deeply connected to its surroundings. The successful candidate understands that luxury today is defined not by excess, but by authenticity, craftsmanship, and extraordinary execution.

What You'll Do

Lead the culinary strategy for all food and beverage experiences across the resort, including signature restaurant, beach bar, pool service, private dining, banquets, weddings, catering, and in-villa dining.
Design seasonal menus that celebrate Caribbean ingredients while meeting the expectations of an international luxury clientele.
Recruit, mentor, and inspire a talented culinary team while establishing a culture rooted in excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Build strong relationships with local fishermen, farmers, growers, and artisan producers to create an authentic and sustainable culinary program.
Establish culinary standards, recipes, systems, and operating procedures during pre-opening that support consistency without sacrificing creativity.
Partner closely with ownership and resort leadership to develop unique culinary programming, special events, chef's dinners, wellness offerings, and memorable guest experiences.
Oversee food cost, labor management, purchasing, inventory, sanitation, and overall financial performance while maintaining uncompromising quality.
Ensure every guest interaction reflects the warmth, attentiveness, and understated luxury that define The Botany.

Who You Are

An accomplished Executive Chef with at least seven years of leadership experience in luxury resorts, including significant experience in the Caribbean or comparable island destinations.
Experienced leading culinary operations for small, independent luxury resorts, where quality, personalization, and versatility are essential.
Comfortable overseeing multiple dining concepts simultaneously, from fine dining to casual outlets, banquet operations, private events, and bespoke dining experiences.
Passionate about local sourcing, sustainable practices, and creating cuisine that reflects its destination.
Equally comfortable mentoring young culinarians, cooking alongside your team during service, and engaging personally with guests.
Calm under pressure, operationally disciplined, and energized by the unique opportunities and challenges of island hospitality.
