This position involves very responsible clinical counseling or social work performed by a highly skilled clinician. The employee is expected to provide highly skilled therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and adults to address difficult or complex problems requiring intensive therapy and services.
Work involves direct care services that includes intake, screening, assessment, diagnosis, developing treatment/rehabilitation plans, conducting individual and group counseling and applying various therapeutic interventions. The employee exercises considerable professional initiative and judgment. Work is under the general review of an administrative superior, leaving considerable latitude for independent judgment and discretion in accordance with agency policies. Provisionally licensed professionals receive professional clinical supervision from a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker.

Work may include but is not limited to the following examples:
Conducts highly skilled screenings, assessments, treatment interventions; develops treatment/rehabilitation plans; conducts individual and group counseling; interprets tests and interview results and makes diagnoses; and provides other advanced clinical counseling or social work services for consumers who have complex behavioral problems.
Maintains timely, legible, clear, concise, and well-organized records of services provided. Documents the results of intakes, screenings, and assessments; prepares and updates treatment plans; records notes of consumer participation and progress in therapeutic services. Prepares reports, progress notes, discharge summaries and other documents needed to satisfy professional and payer requirements, by using collaborative documentation.
Participates in quality improvement processes, staff meetings, staff training, consumer staffings and case reviews.

Thorough knowledge of counseling or social work theories, practices, techniques, and ethics as they apply to services for individuals with complex behavioral problems, emotional disturbances, and/or mental illness.
Thorough knowledge of individual behavior and group dynamics, and intervention strategies.
Thorough knowledge of the social effects of various mental and emotional problems on individuals, their families, and the community.
Considerable knowledge of the requirements of state and federal law and professional requirements pertaining to the delivery of counseling or social work services.
Considerable knowledge of crisis intervention theory and practice and the ability to make decisions in crisis situations.
Working knowledge of available community resources.
Skill in clinical assessment, problem solving, and decision making including crisis.
Ability to read, comprehend, and speak in the English language.

The following education and experience qualifications are the minimum requirement used to admit or reject applicants for consideration.
- Must be able to obtain a provisional or have a current license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Missouri OR obtain a provisional or have a current license as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri.
Must successfully pass a background screening in accordance with 9 CSR 10-5.190.
Possesses a valid driver’s license and is, and remains insurable, under Family Guidance Center liability insurance.
