Full Job Description

What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking an Substation Drafter to join our power group in the St. Louis, MO office. This is an onsite position, requiring 5 days per week in office.

Joining the power team at GFT means engaging in cutting-edge projects that drive the future of energy infrastructure. Our team excels in providing solutions for power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy, utilizing advanced technologies and creative problem-solving to meet today’s diverse energy needs. Be part of a dynamic group dedicated to enhancing system reliability, sustainability, and efficiency while shaping the energy landscape for a resilient and sustainable future.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

The successful candidate will have a desire to learn the design aspects of various substation projects from 15kV up to 500kV. You will work with our senior staff to learn and strengthen your understanding of designing utility class electrical substations

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Prepares plans and details with limited complexity in support of broader engineering activities
Preparing schematic and wiring layouts
Working with our engineers to incorporate redline markups
Works within a design group to complete projects

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

Associated Degree or pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2+ years of related experience in the substation or power industry.
Demonstrated interest in substation or power engineering through applied academic coursework, internships, or past experiences.
Working knowledge of CADD Software
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Good written and verbal communications skills

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $28.00 - $35.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
