Position Type: Full-Time

Job Overview:

Hopson Lumber Company seeks an experienced Inside Sales Representative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling a wide range of building materials to contractors, builders, DIYers, and construction professionals. The Inside Contractor Sales Representative will serve as the key point of contact for existing customers and contractors throughout the building process, ensuring exceptional customer services, managing scheduling timelines, and working with estimator and specialty sales team members to ensure a seamless building process.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and other industry professionals.
Sales: Actively promote and sell building materials, including lumber, windows, doors, plywood, and other construction supplies to contractors and customers.
Consultation & Solution Selling: Offer expert advice on building products, recommend solutions based on customer needs, and provide product pricing and availability information.
Quoting & Estimation: Prepare accurate quotes and material lists for construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while meeting client specifications.
Order Processing: Coordinate orders from initial request through delivery, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of all customer orders.
Product Knowledge: Maintain a strong understanding of building materials, construction techniques, and industry trends to offer customers informed guidance.
Inventory Management: Collaborate with other team members to ensure product availability, monitor stock levels, and place orders for high-demand items.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to product delivery, quality, or customer satisfaction.
Market Awareness: Stay informed on competitor pricing, promotions, and market trends to provide value-driven recommendations to clients.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other sales reps, yard staff, and managers to ensure seamless customer experiences and efficient yard operations.

Requirements:

Proven experience in sales within a lumberyard, building materials supplier, or related industry.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, including lumber, plywood, siding, and other building products.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or construction plans.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with building and material POS systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Valid driver’s license.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business or construction management is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience in the building materials or construction industry.

As part of the interview process, all candidates will be expected to complete a residential house take-off, including lumber, windows, millwork, and interior and exterior doors.
