Job Summary
Only applicants with a minimum of 1 year in lighted signage, channel letter, and monument signage fabricating and installing may be considered. A painting background is also a plus. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with extreme attention to detail. We manufacture and install extremely well made and long lasting products so short cuts are not tolerable. Must be able to read shop drawings, fabricate from those drawings, and a knowledge of signage electrical components are needed as well. Applicant must not be afraid of heights and be able to operate machinery such as a scissor lift or boom lift. Must know how to install signs, install printed print vinyl, and able to read location grids on job orders. A valid driver's license is also mandatory. Responsibilities and Duties
~ Reviews plans and diagrams to ensure accuracy of cutting of materials to create sign parts
~ Plans, prepares and uses materials to be cut in a matter to keep waste to a minimum
~ Operates metal cutting equipment to accurately cut materials to job specifications
~ Operates welding equipment to weld sign parts together
~ Implements and maintains quality control and safety during material handling, cutting, and welding
~ Sands, grinds, polishes, and cleans cut materials
~ Layout materials to be used for skinning/covering sign structure
~ Bends and shapes sign parts by hand or by using brakes according to job specifications
~ Drills, rivets, screws, or glues sign parts together
~ Work with engineering staff to clarify information and obtain design changes as needed.
~ Performs pre-painting and wiring preparation by cleaning and labeling of parts
~ Touches up paint and performs detail of signs
~ Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and re-welding as needed.
~ Operates crane or fork lift for moving and positioning materials and supplies
~ Maintains a safe working environment
~ Maintains a clean and orderly work area
~ Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
Preferably have at least one year of sign fabrication or two plus years of metal fabrication/welding experience.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, tape measure, grinders, and saws...safely
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Fabricate carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and other metals working from drawings and written instructions.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines to form and assemble metal components.
- Position and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications.
- Requires good judgment, and ability to work with others and perform other tasks as assigned.
- Previous work with structural steel, welding and grinding processes, sheet metal.
- Ability to review designs and drawings (blueprints).
- Strong attention to detail in measurements and design specifics.
- Experience operating a forklift preferred.
