Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Communications Manager is responsible for planning, creating, and executing communications that strengthen YWCA Greenwich's visibility, support fundraising efforts, promote programs and services, and engage members, donors, and the community.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that manages day-to-day communications across multiple platforms while working closely with the Advancement, Membership, and Program teams to ensure consistent, compelling messaging.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement annual communications plans that support organizational priorities, fundraising initiatives, membership growth, and program participation.
Create engaging content for email marketing, website, social media, print publications, digital communications, and marketing materials.
Manage the organization's communications calendar and coordinate messaging across departments.
Write donor communications, newsletters, impact stories, press releases, brochures, and other promotional materials.
Partner with the Advancement team to support the Annual Appeal, capital campaign, grant communications, stewardship efforts, and special events.
Produce the organization's Annual Report and other key publications.
Collaborate with program staff to identify meaningful client and participant stories that demonstrate the impact of YWCA Greenwich's work.
Maintain and update website content to ensure information is timely, accurate, and engaging.
Manage the organization's social media presence, creating content that creatively builds awareness and engagement.
Attend community events to represent YWCA Greenwich and support program staff.
Coordinate photography, video, graphic design, printing, and other communications vendors as needed.
Assist with media outreach and cultivate opportunities to increase organizational visibility.
Ensure brand consistency across all communications and marketing materials.
Track communications metrics and recommend strategies to increase engagement and effectiveness.
Provide communications support for community outreach activities and special events.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field.
Three to five years of progressively responsible communications, marketing, public relations, or nonprofit development experience.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
Experience managing social media platforms, email marketing, and website content.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (or similar design platforms), Microsoft Office, and email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or Mailchimp.
Photography, basic video editing, and content creation experience are highly desirable.
Experience working with a nonprofit organization is preferred.

The key programmatic areas are: Harmony Project serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence, Aquatics, Childhood Education programs, Fitness memberships, Health & Recreation Programs, and the Center for Equity and Justice. More specifically:

YWCA Greenwich provides comprehensive direct services to victims of domestic and sexual violence through 24-hour hotlines, crisis intervention, counseling, court advocacy, and emergency sheltering. We added a Civil Legal Clinic and Financial Literacy Coaching to our array of free services to victims of domestic violence. In addition, the YWCA Greenwich provides prevention education through extensive training of key members of the community and age-appropriate domestic abuse prevention programs through the Greenwich Public Schools and independent schools.

YWCA Greenwich has a nationally recognized swim team. The Dolphins, now in its 51th season with well over 200 swimmers, can point with pride to multiple USA Swimming recognition as a “Silver Medal” or “Bronze Medal” Club, placing the team in the top 4% nationally.
