Full Job Description

Hurrica Restaurant & Bar is located at Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City, CA. The restaurant features a live fire hearth, exposition kitchen, and seasonal dishes cooked over open flame. We are open for dinner nightly and lunch Wednesday-Sunday.

We are looking for an experienced PASTRY SOUS CHEF.

Responsibilities:

Manage pastry team and kitchen staff
Collaborate with the culinary team
Oversee pastry ordering, prep, and execution
Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and quality standards

Skills:

Minimum 5 years previous experience in food service or culinary industry is required
Management skills including leadership, staff oversight, and adhering to restaurant and kitchen standards
Proven experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or similar role in the food industry
Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques, including pastry preparation
Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills to effectively lead a team and interact with customers
A passion for cooking and creating exceptional dining experiences
Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not mandatory

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pastry preparation and baking, with a flair for creativity and attention to detail. As Pastry Sous Chef, will be responsible for creating a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods that delight our customers and enhance our menu offerings. This role requires a commitment to quality, consistency, and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced restaurant environment. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for baking; creativity in developing new dessert ideas is highly desirable. You will collaborate with the Pastry Chef and be a leader in the kitchen.
