Job Summary:
In this role, performed inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Scott Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and related respiratory protection equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and manufacturer standards. Conduct SCBA flow testing, facepiece leak testing, and respirator fit testing while maintaining accurate service documentation and managing parts inventory. Provided timely on-site customer service, communicated effectively throughout the service process, and maintained a fully stocked, organized service vehicle to support efficient field operations and ensure life safety equipment remained reliable and mission-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performed inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and certification of Scott Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and related life safety equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and NFPA standards.
- Conducted SCBA flow testing, facepiece leak testing, and quantitative/qualitative respirator fit testing to ensure equipment reliability and user safety.
- Diagnosed equipment malfunctions, replaced defective components, and restored SCBA units to operational readiness.
- Completed detailed service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Delivered prompt on-site service and repairs while maintaining professional communication with customers before, during, and after service appointments.
- Managed service vehicle inventory, ensuring adequate stock of replacement parts, tools, and testing equipment to minimize downtime.
- Maintained a clean, organized, and fully equipped service vehicle to support efficient field operations.
- Ensured compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and manufacturer guidelines while performing preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Successfully completed manufacturer certification training and maintained current technical knowledge of Scott SCBA equipment, testing procedures, and repair protocols.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in mechanical, industrial, fire service, or related equipment maintenance preferred.
- Scott or equivalent manufacturer certification preferred, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
Experience:
- Experience inspecting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Scott Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and respiratory protection equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and manufacturer standards governing SCBA inspection, testing, and maintenance.
- Proficient in performing SCBA flow testing, facepiece leak testing, and respirator fit testing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and equipment specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer sites and operate a service vehicle.
Skills and Abilities:

- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple service calls.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with firefighters, industrial personnel, and other customers.
- Proficient in completing accurate service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to manage parts inventory and maintain a clean, organized service vehicle.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and computer-based service reporting systems.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work in field environments as required.

Working Conditions:
- Frequent travel to customer locations to perform on-site inspections, maintenance, testing, and repairs.
- Regular exposure to industrial, manufacturing, emergency response, and fire service environments.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting while servicing equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, and parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and testing equipment on a daily basis.
- Operation of a company service vehicle while traveling between customer sites.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours to support emergency service calls or customer schedules.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA, NFPA, company safety policies, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Must maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment while representing the company at customer locations.
