The Opportunity
A high-growth dental laboratory organization is seeking an exceptional Exocad specialist to own complex, full-arch digital workflows from surgical capture through final prosthetic design. This is not a conventional production-designer position. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of advanced CAD design, chairside clinical execution, digital workflow implementation, and client-facing technical leadership. You will support All-on-X surgical teams in real clinical environments, capture and validate digital records, design immediate-load provisionals on the day of surgery, and engineer definitive full-arch restorations with a high degree of speed, judgment, and repeatability. This position is built for a proven full-arch operator who can independently take a difficult case from scan to validated, production-ready design - under real surgical-day pressure.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Exocad design for immediate-load and definitive All-on-X / full-arch implant restorations, including upper, lower, and dual-arch cases.
- Design same-day PMMA provisionals accurately and efficiently while surgery is in progress, incorporating verified implant position, MUA selection, occlusion, VDO, midline, smile line, phonetics, tissue contours, and restorative space.
- Create definitive full-arch prosthetic designs, including monolithic and cutback zirconia workflows, prototypes, verification devices, bars/substructures when indicated, and production-ready files.
- Perform intraoral scanning and capture full-arch implant positions using photogrammetry; verify scan integrity before the surgical team or patient is released.
- Register and reconcile IOS, photogrammetry, facial, pre-operative, denture, CBCT-derived, and laboratory datasets; diagnose and correct alignment, scan-body, soft-tissue, and bite-record errors.
- Provide on-site technical support to implant practices and establish reliable digital protocols with surgeons, restorative doctors, assistants, and laboratory teams. Present workflows, case strategies, and technical solutions to prospective and existing clinical partners with authority and credibility.
- Maintain disciplined case documentation, naming conventions, version control, design approvals, and secure transfer of patient data.
- Travel throughout the assigned region and perform on-site digital workflow support when cases require field-based execution.
Required Expertise
- Expert-level Exocad proficiency with a substantial portfolio of completed All-on-X / full-arch implant cases. Candidates whose experience is primarily crowns and bridges will not qualify.
- Documented ability to design immediate-load full-arch provisionals independently on the day of surgery and deliver printable/millable output within clinically relevant timelines.
- Deep command of full-arch fundamentals: prosthetic space, restorative-driven implant planning, MUA workflows, passive fit, emergence profile, tissue compression, intaglio design, cantilever control, occlusal scheme, VDO, midline, smile design, and phonetic considerations.
- Hands-on competence with intraoral scanning and full-arch photogrammetry, including troubleshooting inaccurate or incomplete clinical records.
- Working knowledge of implant libraries, scan bodies, multi-unit abutment systems, temporary cylinders, direct-to-MUA and direct-to-fixture workflows, and common full-arch production limitations.
- Strong understanding of 3D printing and milling handoff requirements, nesting/production constraints, file integrity, and quality-control checkpoints.
- Exceptional communication and presence in a surgical practice; able to guide experienced doctors without creating friction.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to travel reliably to client sites, including occasional early starts or schedule changes driven by surgery.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of advanced dental CAD/CAM experience, with the majority of recent work focused on implant-supported full-arch prosthetics.
- Experience with intraoral scanners, photogrammetry systems, facial scanning, guided surgery, and dual-arch immediate-load workflows.
- Experience training clinical and laboratory teams, standardizing workflows, conducting technicaldemonstrations, or supporting practice adoption.
- Familiarity with major implant ecosystems and restorative components, including Nobel Biocare, Straumann/Neodent, BioHorizons, and comparable systems.
- Dental technician credentials, formal CAD/CAM training, or equivalent high-level portfolio-based experience. Performance Expectations
- Produce predictable, clinically usable same-day designs without constant oversight.
- Identify bad data before design begins and prevent avoidable remakes, chairside delays, and surgical-day failures.
- Communicate clearly with doctors and teams, manage high-pressure cases calmly, and protect the patient experience.
- Improve case acceptance, client confidence, workflow consistency, turnaround time, and remake performance through technical leadership.
- Operate with discretion, professionalism, urgency, and strong accountability for outcomes.
Schedule & Travel
This is a full-time, New Jersey-based role with regular regional travel (up to 3-4 hours) to implant practices. The schedule follows surgical demand and may include early mornings, Saturdays, extended surgical days, and occasional after-hours design completion. This is not a fully remote position.
Compensation
Annual base salary: $125,000-$160,000, based on demonstrated full-arch expertise, clinical workflow experience, field capabilities, and overall scope of responsibility. Additional performance-basedcompensation may be available. Benefit eligibility and available programs will be discussed during the
interview process.
Application Requirements
Submit a resume and a portfolio of personally completed full-arch cases. The portfolio should include immediate-load and definitive designs and should demonstrate maxillary, mandibular, and preferably dual-arch work. Remove all patient-identifying information.
- Your exact role in each submitted case and which portions you personally designed or captured.
- Exocad modules and versions used, plus the photogrammetry and intraoral scanning systems you have operated hands-on.
- Typical turnaround time for a same-day provisional after receiving verified records.
- Current location, travel availability, and earliest potential start date.
