Personal Injury Paralegal

Personal Injury Paralegal

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Personal Injury Paralegal to support our litigation team in all phases of civil personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will manage caseloads from intake through trial, coordinate discovery, work with medical providers and experts, prepare pleadings and trial materials, and communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel. Experience with catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of personal injury matters, ensuring timely progression from intake through resolution or trial.
Prepare, file and serve pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and other court documents in accordance with court rules and firm procedures.
Draft and respond to discovery requests including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and prepare privilege logs.
Collect, organize and analyze medical records, bills, and other evidentiary documents; summarize medical treatment and damages for attorneys and experts.
Coordinate depositions, hearings and trial logistics, including scheduling, preparing exhibits, witness lists and trial binders.
Assist attorneys with trial preparation: exhibit preparation, witness preparation, jury instructions, trial notebooks and courtroom technology setup.
Support settlement negotiations by preparing demand packages, settlement analyses, and corresponding with insurance adjusters and defense counsel.
Communicate regularly and compassionately with clients, family members and third parties; provide case updates and respond to client inquiries.
Utilize e-discovery tools and legal software to manage electronic documents, track deadlines, and maintain organized case files and calendars.
Work with medical experts, vocational specialists and life-care planners to secure opinions, reports and necessary documentation for complex or catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.

Qualifications

Paralegal certificate, associate or bachelors degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum 3+ years of experience as a paralegal in personal injury or civil litigation; experience with catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases strongly preferred.
Proven experience in discovery, deposition preparation, trial preparation and court filings.
Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, evidence rules, and local court rules.
Proficiency with e-discovery platforms, legal case management software, Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, experts, opposing counsel and court personnel.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally difficult matters with empathy and discretion.
Paralegal certification or membership in a professional organization (e.g., NALA, NFPA) and familiarity with state-specific paralegal requirements a plus.
