Full Job Description

VCSB is looking for our next Peer Recovery Specialist! A Peer is a partner who provides support to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. As part of the Community-Based Services team, the Peer plays a vital part in an individual's road to recovery by acting as a bridge between the individual and their treatment providers. The PSH Peer Bridger serves as a member of the collaborative treatment team and provides direct peer recovery services to individuals who are enrolled in the PSH program at VCSB. The incumbent facilitates positive, person-centered client relationships based on dignity, compassion, and respect.

Hourly rate from $17.75 - $21.69.

Essential Functions:

Provides direct Peer Recovery services to individuals identified with MH/SU treatment needs.
Provide initial and ongoing peer reviews of client’s strengths and needs resulting in collaborative contributions with the treatment team; which are input into Recovery Resiliency Wellness Plan (RRWP) and updated and reviewed in accordance with Medicaid and licensure standards and VCSB policies.
Complete documentation of progress notes to Medicaid standards. Complete forms required by Valley CSB policy.
Actively participates in supervision.
Participates in weekly staff meetings and individual supervisions in order to coordinate treatment services and plan service delivery.
Utilizes office-based and/or home visits to provide supportive, skill-based services including linking, referring, problem-solving, and consulting to individuals with substance use disorders.
Coordinates treatment services with other agencies, in order to help individuals achieve recovery May include education, consultation, and technical assistance to community groups/agencies.
Assists VCSB Emergency Services team in providing crisis intervention, when clinically indicated.
Maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, consumers, and staff of outside agencies.

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from a Peer to Peer Support Specialist Training.
Must be eligible to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in Virginia.
High School diploma or equivalent with identified related experience.
1 year (or more) of recovery.
Acceptable driving record with a 0 or positive points balance.
