Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Driller to join our team, specializing in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) for underground utility installation. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for operating advanced drilling machinery—including rigs from manufacturers like Vermeer or Ditch Witch—to install pipelines and conduits under various obstructions while strictly adhering to site safety and construction protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret engineering plans, and a deep commitment to efficient, precise, and safe drilling operations. While we offer consistent local work, this position includes the potential for travel to support diverse projects across the region. We are specifically looking for qualified professionals who are motivated to grow with our company and take advantage of significant opportunities for long-term career advancement.

Duties

Operate directional drilling equipment to perform horizontal drilling tasks.
Experience with mini excavators and backhoe's a plus.
Collaborate with team members to ensure that all drilling operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
Maintain and inspect drilling equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance.
Follow all safety protocols and regulations while working on construction sites.
Assist in paving operations as required, ensuring quality workmanship.
Document daily activities and report any issues or concerns to the site supervisor.

Requirements

Experience with horizontal drilling techniques and construction site practices.
Valid class A driver's license with tanker endorsement REQUIRED, or must be able to obtain in 90 days.
Clean driving record is mandatory.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
Physical stamina to perform manual labor and operate machinery for extended periods.
Willingness to learn new skills related to drilling operations and equipment maintenance.
Willing to train the right person.
Currently mostly local work, but traveling may be required at times.
