Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Manufacturing Procurement Manager to lead our procurement operations within the manufacturing sector. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for centralizing, standardizing, and managing the procurement of goods and services across company divisions and categories, including imports, equipment, parts, supplies, services, and indirect spending. The role is critical to controlling costs, ensuring parts and supply availability, building strong vendor relationships, and bringing structure and continuous improvement to a high-volume, multi-division procurement environment. This pivotal role involves overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory control of raw materials and components essential for production operations. Duties
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery timeliness, and cost competitiveness.
- Oversee inventory management systems to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and prevent shortages.
- Utilize ERP systems for purchase order creation, tracking, and data analysis.
- Coordinate with production planning teams to align procurement activities with manufacturing schedules.
- Monitor logistics and warehouse operations to ensure efficient inbound and outbound material flow.
- Conduct demand planning and forecasting using spreadsheets and inventory management tools to anticipate material needs.
- Negotiate imports with suppliers, review terms, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with quality assurance, logistics, finance, and production teams to optimize supply chain performance.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of purchase transactions, supplier agreements, and inventory levels for audit purposes.
- Manage the full lifecycle of assigned purchase orders (POs) across categories and divisions, including equipment, parts, supplies, and indirect spending through payment
- Monitor and maintain data accuracy across all POs including pricing, lead times, delivery dates, part numbers, and supplier information
- Ensure vendor returns and coordinate credit resolutions
- UPS and shipment reconciliation to match carrier shipping bills against internal ERP records, detecting overcharges, weight adjustments, or zone discrepancies to ensure correct payment.
- Maintain documentation and audit trail for all vendor communications
- Ensure purchasing compliance with company policies, SOPs, manufacturer agreements, and any applicable government or fleet purchasing programs
- Solicit competitive bids, freight quotes, evaluate vendor proposals, and negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts for imports
- Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through volume consolidation, contract leverage, alternative sourcing, and market price monitoring
- Support assigned category strategies with vendor analysis, spend tracking, and contract data management
- Establish and maintain preferred vendor lists and approved supplier agreements
- Build strong relationships with minor OEM suppliers, aftermarket parts vendors, and service contractors to foster accountability and responsive support
- Identify opportunities to improve vendor performance, lead times, and pricing
- Support the Accounts Payable department with PO mismatches, pricing variances, invoice reconciliation, and receipts
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline purchasing workflows
Experience
- BA or BS in Materials Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field preferred. or 3–5+ years of professional procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment considered in lieu of degree
- 3+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships
- Experience in manufacturing/industrial business, or a comparable high-volume procurement environment preferred
- The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in manufacturing, supply chain management, procurement processes, and ERP systems such as SyteLine.
- Strong negotiation skills and vendor management experience
- Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work cross-functionally across divisions and locations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to frequent changes in deadlines and priorities
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
