Full Job Description

The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center, a Division of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, LLC is one of the nations largest Orthopaedics practices, owned and operated by physicians, with over 60 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. With approximately 2,000 employees, working in 28 Divisions, CAO is a growing business with revenues of approximately $250 Million. The Radiologic Technologist supports the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center by performing both clinical and administrative duties as part of the divisional care team. The Radiology Technologist works under the supervision of a physician and performs patient triage, care protocols, venipuncture, laboratory testing and patient follow up as indicated. This position supports timely and optimal patient flow with a focus on the positive patient experience and highest quality of care. Documents as appropriate in the medical record.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Radiologic Technologist may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this job description. Primary responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, core values and operating principles of CAO. Performs x-rays in accordance with medical provider orders; forwards images to the appropriate radiologist for over-reads; maintains x-ray equipment and adheres to safety standards.
Cleans, stocks, and sterilizes equipment in addition to cleaning and preparing patient rooms for care delivery.
Contributes to the achievement of established division and/or department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Delivers patient care consistent with policy and with high regard for patient/ employee safety and quality of care.
Maintains knowledge of and appropriately enters information into the electronic medical record.
Helps to manage patient flow with consistent and frequent communication with patients and other members of the clinical team.
Supports other members of the team during downtime.
Supports the medical provider in patient examination, testing and education.
Complies with all governmental and CAO/Divisional guidelines, completing all assigned training by the associated deadlines.
May serve as a preceptor for Radiologic Technologist students.

Reporting Relationships:

The Radiologic Technologist reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor. The position does not have direct reports.

Requirements, Education and Experience:

Associates degree or equivalent, and completion of an approved RT program.
ARRT Certification
CPR for Healthcare Providers certification.
2+ years of medical office experience strongly preferred.

Competencies / Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal skills to promote positive relationships with CAO and non-CAO physicians and other personnel.
Clinical competence as assessed during initial probationary period and evaluated at minimum annually thereafter.
Excellent customer service and patient experience skills.
Proficiency in Windows based office technologies (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Able to work independently.
Proficiency with electronic medical records and charting in same.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in the English language.
