COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources.
This work unit exists to manage North Sterling State Park, a large, water-based state park, within the guidelines of Colorado State statutes, regulations, and Division of Parks and Wildlife policy and procedures for the use and benefit of nearly 300,000 visitors which utilize the area annually. This unit provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities to the public, while working to ensure that safety and high-quality standards are met. This unit will be responsible for coordination and implementation of the Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) program at North Sterling State Park as well as the educational outreach program at North Sterling State Park. It will also help maintain and improve visitor facilities, park infrastructure and natural resources within the park.
This unit is responsible for providing visitor services, maintenance functions, natural resource protection, natural resource education, administrative functions, inter-agency cooperation and assisting with statewide programs. The work unit administers State Park Programs within the district and provides recreation and natural resource management expertise to Federal, State, County, Local and Private entities.
This position will manage environmental education & outreach, ANS program, and help maintain park facilities and infrastructure at North Sterling State Park.
Specific job duties include but are not limited to:
Program Management
Plans, directs, and participates in programs and activities of the Aquatic Nuisance Species Program, the Interpretation and Educational Program, and helps maintain park facilities and infrastructure at North Sterling State Park. Assures work unit safety & natural resource protection needs are accomplished effectively, efficiently, and consistently by researching, designing, developing, planning, budgeting, and implementing work unit operational guidelines, procedures, programs, and/or plans. Develops, plans, and implements, and/or supervises a variety of educational, public safety, informational, and interpretive programs and events both in coordination with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and North Sterling State Park. As well as ensuring all ANS policies are practices are being followed by staff. Collaborate with the work unit managers to ensure efforts in all work unit areas are consistent with the goals of the work unit and Colorado State Parks.
Administration
Monitoring seal data and inspection records for the ANS program. Planning interpretation and education events.
Supervision
This position develops and implements processes to ensure temporary workers are performing their assigned duties within the park on a daily basis.
Budgeting/Accounting
Responsible for budgets within areas of responsibility. Responsible for proper use of State credit card.
Maintenance
Maintenance and upkeep of vehicles, park buildings, grounds, campsites and office areas are a responsibility shared by all FTE staff, including this position.
Field Presence
The majority of visitation to the work unit occurs on weekends and holidays. As a result, this position will work in the field, in part, to best serve employees and the public during those high use periods.

Five (5) years of experience in general Office/Clerical Support, Administrative Assistant Experience, Customer & Public Service, Financial/Procurement Support, Document & Information Management, Coordination/Project Support, retail management, volunteer management, environmental education.

Education and Experience:
A combination of education in any discipline of Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Outdoor Recreation, Public Administration, Public Engagement/volunteer management, Accounting, Finance and/or relevant experience general Office/Clerical Support, Administrative Assistant Experience, Customer & Public Service, Financial/Procurement Support, Document & Information Management, Coordination/Project Support, retail management, volunteer management, environmental education equal to five (5) years
