Full Job Description

Heavy Cleaner Duties and Responsibilities

Cleans offices, cell block, hallways, stairways, windows and doors. Will pick up trash around exterior of buildings and in parking garage areas. Will maintain cleanliness of restrooms and elevators during the day. Will change light bulbs and other small maintenance tasks as directed by Building Superintendent.

Example of duties:

Works under the supervision and direction of the Building Superintendent
Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
Using excellent customer service skills establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.
May open or close the building as needed.
Responsible for maintaining the goals, standards and objectives of the courthouse.
Coordinates with the Superintendent on work schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance and the care of buildings and offices.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Responsible for security of assigned locations.

· Vacuums, spot cleans and shampoos carpets, and furniture using commercial type vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment.

· Makes small repairs to bathroom fixtures, may snake drains to remove blockages, will report malfunction to supervisor.

· May order stock using purchase order system, will keep all appropriate supplies on hand.

· Complete work orders as needed

· Move furniture, equipment, or fixtures as required. Operates pressure washing equipment as needed. May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways, and roofs as required. Will change light bulbs and ballasts.

· May be required to perform small maintenance work orders.

Knowledge and Skills

· Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques and standards.

· Skill in using cleaning products and equipment.

· Skill in following verbal and written instructions

· Skill in performing small maintenance tasks such as small electrical and plumbing tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

· One year minimium of maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and, abilities have been achieved.
