Full Job Description

CFO Overview:

CFO offers food, resources, peer groups, employment assistance and virtual programming for those in Recovery that may struggle with Mental Illness, Substance Use or the crisis of homelessness.

We provide support and guidance to our participants from a place of empathy and understanding. Centers For Opportunity (CFO) hires exceptional people who share our vision and values. Your job would be to provide a continental breakfast and hot lunch for our 40+ Reston Recovery Center participants Monday through Friday. Clean up is expected, as well. Hours are 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. 25 hours per week at $16-$18 an hour based on experience. You are an essential member of CFO Reston's staff.

Job Description:

Operate as the Kitchen Manager with a variety of tasks
Keep Food Handler's license current
Stock food and supplies
Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee, tea, and juice
Put out Continental Breakfast: cakes, pastries, etc. before opening
Prepare each meal including moving items to and from cooking and serving areas
Wash, peel and cut various foods to prepare for cooking and serving
Cook and re-heat food items;
Select food items from serving and storage areas and place them on trays
Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, containers, etc.
Maintains work areas in a sanitized and orderly manner in compliance with state health and safety regulations
Arrange tables and eating utensils according to process
Clean and organize eating and service areas
Make shopping list
Maintain clean and organized freezer, refrigerator, and pantry areas
Prepare easy to serve meals (defrosted meat, sandwich ingredients, prepared casseroles or canned meals such as ravioli) for known and emergency absences of Kitchen Manager
Follow CFO Food Policy
Reports any health and/or safety concerns/violations
Support special events
Ensure kitchen appliances and equipment have been cleaned and turned off at the end of each workday
Do dishes
Clean out Refrigerators and Freezers weekly and give away or dispose of produce (fresh vegetables and fruits) weekly
Take out trash
Other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Preferably experience working in a kitchen or restaurant involving direct food preparation
Ability to lift and/or move merchandise and/or kitchen equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
Ability to use hands to seize, hold, grasp, tum, or otherwise in order to chop, whisk, slice, stir, juice and/or demonstrate other techniques
Must be able to read and follow recipes
Must ensure that work area remains clean
Identify mental health, substance use and physical health emergencies and respond with appropriate actions, requesting support from other staff and connect participants with appropriate emergency services when needed
Shows effective communication skills that can ensure cooperative work between employees in order to run a successful kitchen.

Certificates and Licenses Required:

Completion of High School or GED Certificate.
TB test within one week of hire
Kitchen Manager Certificate withing two weeks of hire

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
