Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovative activity programs that cater to a diverse guest demographic, ensuring high levels of participation and enjoyment
- Oversee and create monthly activity schedules, ensuring smooth coordination with other departments.
- Supervise activity staff and volunteers, providing training, motivation, and performance feedback to maintain high service standards
- Manage the activities budget efficiently, including procurement of supplies and equipment while maximizing revenue opportunities
- Collaborate with human resources to recruit, onboard, and retain talented team members with hospitality management experience
- Ensure all activities comply with DHS regulations.
- Foster strong guest relations by providing exceptional customer service, addressing concerns promptly, and creating memorable experiences
- Maintain clear communication with team members
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience.
- Strong background in overseeing daily hotel operations.

Activities Director Roadmap of Expectations & Duties
1. Role & Regulatory Foundation
Purpose
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality activity program that supports residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. This must reflect residents’ preferences and be compliant with regulatory requirements for a person-centered activities program.
Regulatory Requirements (Applicable Standards)
- Facilities must provide an ongoing activity program designed to meet each resident’s interests and needs.
- The activity program must support well-being, encourage independence, and include both group and individual activities.
2. Daily Programming Expectations
Minimum Activity Requirements
To ensure robust engagement and compliance with the intent of federal/state program requirements:
Hold at least three (3) structured activities per day — designed to engage residents physically, socially, emotionally, or cognitively (e.g., crafts, music, exercise, discussion groups)
➡ Activities should be spaced throughout the day (morning, afternoon, and evening) and included in the published activity calendar.
Individualized and Group Activities
- Provide a mix of group and individual activities tailored to residents’ preferences and care plans.
- Document resident participation and feedback
3. Weekly / Special Programming Duties
Nail Care Services
- Schedule nail care at least once weekly as part of a resident-focused service plan.
- Coordinate scheduling and ensure documentation of services provided.
4. Dining & Resident Support Duties
Meal Assistance
The Activities Director is responsible for assisting in the dining room during mealtimes daily to support residents who need encouragement, social interaction, or assistance.
5. Safety & Community Living Duties
Door Alarm Assistance
The Activities Director should assist with checking and shutting off door alarms as part of daily community safety routines, ensuring resident safety and compliance with community protocols.
6. Mail and Correspondence Duties
Daily Mail Responsibility
- Check and hand out mail daily to residents.
- Confirm delivery to the correct resident and assist with any issues or follow-up needed (e.g., name confusion, returned mail).
7. Documentation & Reporting
Activity Records
Maintain accurate records of activity planning, attendance, and outcomes.
8. Communication & Engagement
Resident & Family Communication
Regularly communicate with residents and families about activity options, preferences, schedule changes, and special events.
Team Collaboration
Collaborate with wellness, social services, therapy, pastoral care, and dietary departments to support resident engagement and quality of life.

- Evaluate activity effectiveness and resident satisfaction through feedback and attendance data.
- Adjust programming as needed to meet resident needs and regulatory expectations.
10. Attendance, Meetings & Coverage Expectations
Professional reliability is essential to maintain regulatory compliance and resident quality of life.
The Activities Director is expected to:
Daily Stand-Up Meeting
- Attend Stand-Up meeting Monday-Friday at 10:00am in ED office
- Attendance is mandatory unless prior approval is obtained.
- Arrive on time and prepared with updates regarding programming, resident engagement, concerns, upcoming events, and operational needs.
Attendance & Coverage
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Submit time-off requests in advance according to community policy.
- Coordinate their own coverage for any planned absences.
- Ensure the substitute staff member is informed of scheduled activities and responsibilities.
- Notify the Executive Director (ED) of any schedule changes or planned absences once coverage is secured.
- In the event of an unexpected absence, notify the ED immediately and assist in identifying coverage when possible.
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
