Industrial Electrical Service Manager/Estimator

Job Summary

A well-established industrial electrical contractor in Stockton, CA is hiring an experienced Electrical Superintendent / Industrial Electrical Service Manager to lead estimating support, job walks, field planning, scheduling, and manpower coordination for a busy electrical department.

A major part of this role is getting electrical work estimated accurately and quickly. The right person must be able to go to customer sites, walk jobs with our sales team, identify opportunities, define the scope of work, determine labor and material needs, use technology to help create competitive quotes, and help move estimates through the process in a timely manner.

This is a leadership role for someone who knows how to make things happen. The right person can manage multiple personalities, enforce standards, organize field crews, communicate with customers, and keep jobs moving safely and profitably.

Many of our jobs do not come with complete prints or engineered plans. This person must be able to evaluate field conditions, help design the layout, identify risks and missing information, coordinate with Engineering when drawings, plans, or documentation are needed, and make sure the work is planned correctly before it reaches the field.

This role supports industrial electrical service work involving motors, pumps, controls, automation, VFDs, MCCs, Power distribution, troubleshooting, installations, panel work, and plant electrical support.

No electrical contractor license is required. The company already holds the required electrical and pump/machinery contractor licenses.

What You Will Do

Perform job walks with customers and sales staff to define scope, layout, labor, materials, access needs, safety requirements, and project risks.
Help create accurate, competitive electrical estimates and quotes in a timely manner.
Use available technology, photos, notes, job history, vendor information, and estimating tools to improve quote accuracy and speed.
Identify material requirements, labor hours, equipment needs, shutdown requirements, permits, subcontractor needs, and customer responsibilities.
Build clear scopes of work for jobs that may not have complete plans or blueprints.
Coordinate with Engineering to produce drawings, plans, documentation, or technical support when needed.
Review quotes for accuracy, completeness, labor, materials, exclusions, and jobsite conditions.
Follow up with sales, customers, vendors, and internal teams to keep estimates and approvals moving.
Schedule and coordinate electricians, service calls, project work, and field manpower.
Help prepare material lists and make sure jobs are ready before field crews are dispatched.
Assign manpower based on skill level, job priority, customer needs, and project deadlines.
Support electricians in the field with technical direction and problem-solving.
Monitor job progress, quality, documentation, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate safety training and technical training for the electrical department.
Enforce company standards for safety, professionalism, communication, workmanship, accountability, and job documentation.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a strong electrical leader who can estimate, plan, communicate, and execute — not just schedule work.

The ideal candidate has field credibility, good judgment, and the ability to lead different personality types. This person must be able to hold people accountable, communicate clearly, solve problems, and bring structure to a fast-moving service department.

You should be comfortable walking into unclear job situations, asking the right questions, taking notes, using technology to document the opportunity, building a practical plan, and helping turn that plan into a professional quote.

You should also be comfortable working with customers, electricians, sales, Engineering, vendors, and management to keep jobs and estimates moving forward.

Required Experience

Strong commercial, industrial, or plant electrical experience.
Experience estimating, quoting, walking jobs, or developing scopes of work for electrical projects or service work.
Experience as an electrical superintendent, foreman, service manager, project manager, lead electrician, or similar leadership role.
Experience coordinating field crews or managing multiple active jobs.
Ability to walk jobs, plan work, estimate labor, and identify material requirements.
Ability to develop practical installation layouts when plans or prints are not provided.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings when available.
Strong understanding of conduit, wire, panels, disconnects, motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, troubleshooting, and electrical installation practices.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to enforce standards and hold team members accountable.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, customer service, quote accuracy, timely follow-up, and job profitability.

Preferred Experience

Industrial electrical service experience.
Experience with motors, pumps, VFDs, MCCs, motor controls, instrumentation, automation, or plant maintenance.
Allen-Bradley PLC, controls, or automation experience is a plus.
UL 508A panel building experience is a plus.
EPLAN or similar electrical design/documentation software experience is a plus.
Experience using estimating software, field service software, CRM systems, tablets, photos, digital takeoffs, or other technology to support quoting and job documentation.
Experience working in food processing, manufacturing, wastewater, municipal, agricultural, or industrial facilities.
Knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical safe work practices.

License Requirement

No electrical contractor license is required for this position. The company already holds the required contractor licenses for the work performed.
