Full Job Description

Position Overview

As our HR Generalist, your primary focus will be on compliance, employee relations, recruitment, and high-level HR strategy. You will not be responsible for the day-to-day management of payroll, benefits, or safety operations; instead, you will act as a collaborative partner to the dedicated managers who own those specific functions.

Because the construction industry comes with specialized employment laws and compliance frameworks, prior HR experience in construction is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Legal Compliance: Serve as the core point of contact for employee issues, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution. Ensure strict adherence to employment laws, risk mitigation, and EEOC guidelines.
Managerial Collaboration: Work closely with our internal payroll, benefits, and safety managers to align corporate policies, resolve workforce challenges, and streamline cross-functional HR workflows.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for both corporate staff and field positions. Direct onboarding initiatives with an emphasis on corporate policy alignment and seamless organizational entry.
Policy Development & Governance: Update and maintain employee handbooks, draft standard operating procedures, and ensure company-wide adherence to changing state and federal labor standards.
HRIS & Documentation: Utilize administrative tools to maintain flawless employee records, track performance evaluations, and monitor compliance documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

The Must-Haves:

Industry Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience strictly within the construction industry. You must understand field/office dynamics and labor challenges unique to contracting.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

The Big Plus-Factors (Highly Preferred):

Legal Expertise: A strong background in employment law, corporate compliance tracking, or risk management is highly encouraged. Candidates who can confidently navigate complex legal frameworks will stand out.
Certifications: Professional HR credentials (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) are highly encouraged and preferred.
Software Proficiency: Direct, hands-on experience utilizing ADP is a major plus.

Collaborative & Communicative: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with specialized department managers (Payroll, Safety, Benefits) and corporate leadership.
Analytical & Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for compliance paperwork, legal documentation, and HR policy formulation.
Discreet & Balanced: Confident in handling highly sensitive employee relations issues with objectivity and professionalism.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
