Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, full-time Commercial Electrical & Solar Designer to join our team on-site. In this role, you will be responsible for creating full commercial solar construction drawing sets, single-line diagrams, and detailed electrical schematics. You will work directly with our engineering, project management, and field operations teams to ensure all designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with national and local codes.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Drafting: Produce complete permit and construction drawing sets (3-line diagrams, site plans, elevation views, electrical details) for commercial rooftop, carport, and ground-mount PV and battery storage systems.

Electrical Engineering Analysis: Perform string sizing, voltage drop calculations, conductor and conduit sizing, and service panel interconnections in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Code & AHJ Compliance: Review design sets against local building codes, utility interconnection guidelines, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements to minimize revision cycles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner on-site with project managers, estimators, and field installation crews to address RFIs and resolve structural or electrical site constraints.
Production & Shading Modeling: Utilize industry software to perform shading analyses, production estimates, and system optimization.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 2–4+ years of hands-on experience designing commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Software Proficiency: High proficiency in AutoCAD; hands-on experience with PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar solar design tools.
Code Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), specifically Articles 690, 705, and 706.
Work Arrangement: 100% In-Person. Candidate must be willing and able to work daily from our physical office location.
Education/Certifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting/CAD Technology, or equivalent field experience; NABCEP certification is a major plus.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
