BGI Logistics is a growing transportation and logistics company specializing in freight transportation, warehousing, cross-docking, and last-mile delivery services throughout the Southeast.
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Warehouse Operations Lead to oversee the daily execution of warehouse operations while supporting local delivery activities. This is a working lead position—not a desk job. The ideal candidate enjoys staying active, leading by example, and helping keep warehouse and transportation operations running smoothly.
This role typically consists of approximately 50% warehouse operations and 50% local deliveries, depending on daily operational needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse Operations
- Lead and coordinate daily warehouse operations while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Work alongside warehouse associates in loading, unloading, staging, and moving freight.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
- Receive inbound shipments and verify quantities and product condition.
- Perform inventory counts, cycle counts, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Prepare and stage outbound freight for scheduled deliveries.
- Print Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping labels, loading sheets, manifests, and other shipping documents.
- Prepare next-day driver paperwork and route documentation.
- Update shipment and inventory information in the company's operating system.
- Coordinate with dispatch and drivers to ensure accurate loading and on-time truck departures.
- Maintain warehouse equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain company trucks and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Follow and promote company safety procedures, operational standards, and applicable DOT regulations.
Local Delivery
- Operate a 26-foot box truck for local pickups and deliveries as needed.
- Load and secure freight for safe transportation.
- Provide professional customer service during deliveries.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Warehouse Lead, Warehouse Supervisor, Shipping Lead, or similar hands-on leadership role preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse operations experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving a 26-foot box truck with a clean driving record. CDL is not required.
- Forklift operating experience required (Forklift Certification preferred).
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs safely.
- Comfortable performing physical warehouse work throughout the day.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with warehouse or transportation management software.
- Experience preparing shipping documents such as Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests, and shipping labels.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- $22.00–$25.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
