Full Job Description

The Music Academy for Special Learners is expanding! We are seeking either a full-time or part-time Music Therapist to join our team.

This role will involve providing services at our Hauppauge office, in-person and telehealth sessions.

At TMA, you will be joining a collaborative and supportive team of over 30 music therapists, art therapists, music educators, and art educators who are dedicated to serving neurodiverse individuals and families across Long Island. Our work is rooted in creativity, connection, clinical care, and a deep respect for each participant’s strengths, goals, and individuality.

This is a great opportunity for a clinician who is looking to grow within a well-established creative arts therapy practice, receive ongoing support and supervision, and be part of a team that values both professional development and meaningful client relationships.

Qualifications

Board Certification (MT-BC required)
New grads are welcome to apply, we can provide a probationary period to obtain MT-BC
Valid license and reliable transportation
Professional clinical experience (preferred)
Master’s (preferred)
LCAT (preferred)
Bilingual (preferred)

Responsibilities

Facilitate individual and group music therapy sessions and adaptive lessons to best the needs of The Music Academy’s clientele
Educate participant and family members about our services including benefits, purpose, and how to incorporate into daily life
Maintain a caseload and ensure accurate and timely assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation
Use evidence-based treatment to address needs and preferences
Act professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of work
Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and acts as a clinical resource for the team when needed
Act as the participant's advocate
Aid in organization of music rooms, staff space, instruments, storage, sheet music/books
Maintain, repair, and clean musical instruments, and equipment
Support the development of relationships with contracted facilities
Assist in the training of music therapy students
Provide open hours for make-up appointments

Schedule

This position may be part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate’s availability, caseload preferences, and program needs.

The schedule requires availability for an established caseload on:

Wednesdays, 11:00am–7:00pm
Sundays, 9:00am–4:00pm

This role is a strong fit for someone looking for either a consistent part-time position or a path toward a full-time clinical role within a growing creative arts therapy practice.

Compensation

Compensation ranges from $25–$37 per hour, based on experience and education.

This position is compensated based on scheduled service hours. Documentation time and paid breaks are included within the schedule, and the hourly rate remains the same for sessions, documentation time, and breaks.
