POSITION SUMMARY
A hands-on technical resource responsible for supporting production and assisting operations in the successful execution of work orders for custom, high-precision machined components. This role serves as a partner to machinists, setup technicians, operators, and quality personnel, helping to establish stable, measurable, reliable, and repeatable manufacturing processes that consistently fulfill customer requirements.
The Manufacturing Engineer is expected to spend significant time on the production floor learning, observing, supporting, and refining CNC machining processes. Through direct involvement in machining operations, tooling selection, setup optimization, programming, troubleshooting, and process development, this position develops manufacturing solutions that improve quality, productivity, machine utilization, and operational performance.
Success in this role requires a servant-leadership mindset, recognizing that engineering exists to support production by removing obstacles, improving processes, and enabling operational success. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates across departments to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, automation initiatives, and long-term process sustainability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manufacturing Process Development
- Develop, troubleshoot, optimize, validate, and document efficient machining processes for new and existing products.
- Establish stable and repeatable manufacturing processes capable of meeting customer quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
- Develop process documentation, setup instructions, tooling requirements, and manufacturing standards.
- Support the transition of new jobs from development into stable long-term production.
- Evaluate manufacturing methods and recommend improvements to increase process capability and reliability.
CNC Programming & Technical Support
- Decipher existing CNC programs and make modifications to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Create CNC programs from engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Create and refine multi-axis CNC programs for Swiss Screw Machines and CNC Lathes utilizing Fanuc controls.
- Optimize feeds, speeds, tool paths, and machining strategies to reduce cycle times and improve throughput.
- Support prove-outs and validation of new programs and manufacturing processes.
Tooling, Setup & Production Support
- Work directly with machinists and setup personnel to optimize setups, tooling selection, workholding, and machining strategies.
- Develop and implement tooling solutions that improve consistency, efficiency, and tool life.
- Troubleshoot machine performance issues, dimensional variation, process instability, and production bottlenecks.
- Serve as a technical resource to production by helping resolve daily manufacturing challenges.
- Spend significant time on the shop floor supporting operators, observing processes, and identifying improvement opportunities.
Automation & Lights-Out Manufacturing
- Develop lights-out machining strategies and implement automation solutions to maximize unattended machine utilization.
- Identify opportunities to improve machine efficiency through automation, process control, and advanced machining techniques.
- Evaluate and implement technologies that increase production capacity and operational effectiveness.
Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with machinists and cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze production data to improve cycle times, machine utilization, process capability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions related to quality and manufacturing performance.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on waste reduction and productivity improvements.
Quoting & Business Support
- Contribute technical expertise to the quoting process by evaluating manufacturability, cycle times, tooling requirements, and process risks.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through process optimization and manufacturing improvements.
Safety & Professional Development
- Promote and support all safety, health, and wellbeing practices, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following company safety requirements and identifying potential hazards.

- Knowledge of metrology, dimensional inspection methods, and process capability analysis.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality results.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a production-focused mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced custom machining environment.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Experience in CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, process development, or related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A U.S. Person includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and certain protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production facility.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Fine motor dexterity and hand coordination.
- Ability to perform visual inspections and evaluate detailed manufacturing features.
- Moderate to high levels of concentration and attention to detail.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments including noise, dust, coolant, oils, and various machining equipment.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
