Full Job Description

Direction Home is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I – Program Accountant to support financial operations across accounts receivable, accounts payable, grant administration, financial reporting, and program accounting activities. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance requirements, and providing accounting support for Agency programs and funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and distribute monthly private pay consumer invoices and maintain accounts receivable records.
Research and resolve billing and account issues, process refunds, adjustments, and account write-offs.
Review and approve accounts payable transactions, vendor payments, and credit card activity.
Support grant administration, financial reporting, budget preparation, and funding source compliance.
Assist with fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, inventory controls, and vehicle accounting activities.
Support cash receipt processing, reconciliations, audits, program monitoring, and special financial projects.
Maintain financial records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Provide accounting support to various programs and serve as backup for key accounting functions as needed.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and organizational performance goals.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of general accounting experience.
Experience with computerized accounting systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred

Experience with Microsoft Business Central.
Knowledge of fund accounting, fixed assets, and purchasing functions.
