Position Summary
The Conservatory Curriculum and Programs Manager owns the programmatic and curricular architecture of the Goldner Conservatory: what is taught, when it is offered, who teaches it, and how each offering contributes to a financially sustainable whole. This is a hands-on curriculum and season-planning role for an experienced arts-education professional who understands how to build an annual season including: fall and spring studio sessions, summer camps, day camps, week-long camps, adult classes, homeschool classes, and private lessons and others as needed into a coherent, financially break-even-or-better program.
The Curriculum and Programs Manager also serves as the artistic-coordination bridge between the Conservatory and the Theatre’s producing operation, working with the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive to bring in-house directors, choreographers, designers, and other artists into Conservatory programming to produce all camp and other productions.
Oversee the Broadway Collective (with support of the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive), and to build a Ballet Collective drawing on outside expertise such as Miami City Ballet.
Serve as the primary liaison to the Box Office Manager for all ticketed productions, ensuring timely on-sale dates by supplying accurate show descriptions, coordination of artwork along with marketing/ Conservatory Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, performance dates, and pre-sale schedules well in advance of each on-sale launch
This position shares front-of-house coverage with the Conservatory Business Manager so that the Conservatory always has a knowledgeable, face-to-face presence for families; schedule flexibility, including some evenings and weekends, is required.
Core Responsibilities
Curriculum and Season Planning
Design and oversee class curriculum across all Conservatory program lines: fall and spring studio sessions, summer camps (typically three to four productions/typically three weeks each), day camps, week-long camps, adult classes, homeschool classes, and private lessons and others as needed
Coordinate, schedule and place students with teachers for private lessons
Build an annual program mix that balances artistic variety, family demand, and financial sustainability, with clear understanding of how each program line intersects with the others across the calendar year
Bring demonstrated, prior experience building comparable multi-line seasonal programming in a Conservatory, camp, or performing-arts-education setting
Serve as primary coordinator for student matinee performances underwritten by Admiral’s Cove Foundation, managing all outreach, scheduling and communications with Title I and other local schools to secure bookings and ensuring proper transportation arrangements have been confirmed for each participating school
Write and refine detailed class and camp descriptions, incorporating input from the Business Manager, Conservatory Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, Director of Finance and Administration and Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive
Serve as producer for all Conservatory productions including choosing productions (with the support of the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive) and acquisition of licenses for the summer camps and other productions presented throughout the year ensuring a complete artistic team (director, choreographer, music director, designers, and other creative personnel as needed) is engaged under contract with clearly defined duties to realize each production. Liaison with the Theatre’s Director of Production and Island Theatre Manager/Assistant Production Manager to coordinate technical, scheduling, and production needs for productions on the MainStage, Island Theatre, or other venues as required
Coordinate events and performances (with assistance from Conservatory Marketing and Outreach Coordinator) outside of the Theatre using the CORE ensemble and other students for marketing presentations, development events, and other projects that the Theatre requires to help promote the Goldner Conservatory.
Budgeting and Financial Sustainability
Create the annual budgeting for the Conservatory Goldner Conservatory to be discussed and reviewed with the Director of Finance and Administration
Translate class size and enrollment projections into sustainable per-class and per-session profitability, with a target of break-even or better for the Conservatory overall
Continuously evaluate the balance between instructional expense and enrollment across all program lines, adjusting the season plan as needed
Monitor actuals against budget throughout the year and recommend mid-course corrections, if need be.
Identify earned revenue opportunities and operational efficiencies to support the Conservatory’s long-term financial sustainability
Artist and Faculty Coordination
Partner with the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive to identify and engage in-house directors, choreographers, designers, and other Theatre artists for Conservatory programming, including the Broadway Collective and other programs
Coordinate and help build a Ballet Collective, drawing on established outside expertise such as Miami City Ballet
Coordinate with the Producing Artistic Director/ Chief Executive to schedule new “Pop-Up” classes (underwritten by donor) utilizing actor talent from our MainStage season productions
Recruit, schedule, and support teaching artists and faculty across all program lines
Coordinate with the Conservatory Business Manager the details to create contracts (including contact information, new hire paperwork, credentialing and compliance, scheduling and logistics, etc.) for all teaching artists
Provide curricular guidance and quality oversight for faculty and guest artists
Community and Institutional Partnerships
Serve as liaison between the Conservatory and local schools, maintaining existing relationships (Beacon Cove Elementary, Lighthouse Elementary, Jupiter Christian) and cultivating new ones
Convene and work with the Conservatory Council several times a year to gather community and expert feedback on programming
Represent the Conservatory in community and institutional settings related to programming and curriculum
Marketing and Brochure Collaboration
Partner with the Conservatory Marketing & Outreach Coordinator to finalize class descriptions and assemble the annual program brochure with sufficient lead time for the yearly season announcement.
Provide programmatic content and subject-matter review for Conservatory marketing materials
Front of House and Administrative Coverage
Share front-facing coverage with the Conservatory Business Manager to ensure a knowledgeable staff presence is always available to families
Attend weekly Conservatory department meetings
Collaborate closely with the Conservatory Business Manager and Marketing & Outreach Coordinator, maintaining a collaborative working style across all three roles
Oversee, along with the Conservatory Business Manager, the Conservatory calendar for accuracy, cross-checking against other building calendars to avoid overlapping events
Maintain working familiarity with Jackrabbit and basic registration processes to provide backup support to the Conservatory Business Manager
Communicate with families regarding various aspects of the Conservatory including, but not limited to, Conservatory production needs, upcoming events and other reminders
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in arts education administration/curriculum or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
Significant, demonstrated prior experience building and managing multi-line performing-arts-education seasons (studio classes, camps, and private instruction). This experience is essential, not preferred
Experience developing curriculum for youth and/or adult performing arts education
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and translating enrollment into program-level profitability
Experience coordinating with guest artists, faculty, or contracted instructors and create written agreements/job descriptions for all
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional customer service skills, ensuring clear and timely communication with parents, staff and outside partners
Highly organized, detail oriented and capable of managing multiple concurrent priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word and comfort with database/ CRM platforms
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends
Preferred
Existing relationships with regional dance, theatre, or arts-education organizations
Experience working alongside a producing theatre or professional artistic staff
Key Working Relationships
Works in daily partnership with the Conservatory Business Manager and the Conservatory Marketing & Outreach Coordinator, and meets regularly with the Conservatory Council. Collaborates directly with the Director of Finance on budgetary needs and Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive on artist coordination and season programming.
