Full Job Description

Job Summary:An Infant Mental Health Practitioner provides mental health support to 0–5-year-old individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs. You will help make a difference in the lives of others by being a compassionate listener, an empathetic communicator, and dedicated to fostering mental wellness.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive, developmentally appropriate assessments for children ages 0–5 and their families.
Assess child strengths, developmental concerns, family functioning, readiness for treatment, and potential barriers to intervention.
Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families and clinical supervisors.
Provide ongoing individual, dyadic (parent-child), and family counseling services to reduce risk factors and strengthen evidence-based protective factors.
Collaborate with families to establish meaningful, behaviorally focused goals that support functional progress in daily life.
Support children and caregivers in building essential skills, including emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation and complete all required reports in accordance with agency and funding requirements.
Utilize culturally responsive and trauma-informed treatment modalities tailored to each family’s cultural values and needs.
Promote age-appropriate social and emotional skills based on the expectations of the child’s home, school, and community environments.
Participate in regular clinical supervision to review cases, ensure quality of care, and maintain compliance with documentation standards.
Meet productivity expectations, including maintaining the required number of billable service hours per week.
Strengthen parent-child relationships through caregiver education, coaching, and the promotion of positive parenting strategies.
Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, clinical case conferences, trainings, and in-service sessions as required.
Maintain a dependable and punctual work schedule that meets the needs of the program and families served.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and self-initiate responsibilities.
Complete and maintain all required trainings, certifications, and continuing education.
Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding client progress, program needs, concerns, and upcoming events.

Physical Responsibilities:

1. The ability to operate an automobile.

2. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.

3. The ability to drive to other locations as needed.

Equipment Used:

1. Standard office technology and equipment, including laptop/computer, printer, scanner, and multifunction devices.

2. Common productivity software and digital platforms as required for daily tasks.

3. Personal cell phone.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling.

2. Experience in either:

a. the practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.

b. the field of mental health.

c. the field of education.

3. Training and experience in infants, toddlers, early childhood development and the observation and assessment of young children.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365

2. Excellent people’s skills organized and dependable.

3. Demonstrates creative critical thinking skills.

4. Experience working with culturally diverse communities/families, with proven ability to be culturally sensitive and proper.

5. Works well independently.

6. Ability to make sound judgments and manage stressful situations.

7. Ability to effectively teach and counsel with students.

8. Ability to remain calm and reassuring in tense situations and to de-escalate arguments.

9. Superior verbal and written communication skills.

10. Compassionate and empathetic with a strong ability to establish and build trust.

11. Excellent listening skills.

12. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

13. Thorough understanding of human behavior, various behavioral and affective disorders, and the diagnosis treatment, and rehabilitation of these disorders.
