Buddy’s Home Furnishings is looking for a motivated, experienced, and results-driven General Manager to lead one of our retail branch locations. This position is the leader of the store and is responsible for driving sales, customer growth, collections performance, inventory control, associate development, customer service, and overall store profitability.
At Buddy’s, the General Manager sets the standard. This role requires strong leadership, clear communication, operational discipline, and the ability to build a team that delivers results. The General Manager is accountable for meeting company objectives, maintaining company quality standards, following company policies, and ensuring safe, professional, and profitable store operations.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can coach people, drive performance, hold the team accountable, and create a positive environment for both customers and associates.
Training will be provided, and you will be expected to lead and develop others in all areas of store operations.

Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the individual branch location. This position performs a wide variety of leadership, operational, sales, customer account, and administrative responsibilities while directing and coordinating store activities.
The General Manager is accountable for achieving company objectives, protecting company assets, developing associates, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring the store operates in a safe, professional, customer-focused, and profitable manner.
Principal Responsibilities
As a General Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the daily operation and overall performance of the store
- Acquiring and maintaining customers
- Driving customer growth, sales performance, revenue goals, and profitability
- Implementing sales, marketing, customer growth, and retention plans
- Following monthly marketing plans and ensuring proper execution at store level
- Meeting company standards for quality, customer service, safety, sales, collections, and operations
- Reviewing, preparing, and understanding financial statements, store reports, and performance data
- Setting clear goals and conducting weekly staff meetings
- Preparing daily work schedules, assigning tasks, and following up on execution
- Recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing associates
- Evaluating employee performance and providing timely feedback
- Disciplining, enforcing company policy, and making employment decisions when appropriate
- Training and developing future leaders within the store
- Maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and professional environment for customers and associates
- Ensuring adequate merchandise availability at all times
- Managing inventory, cash assets, customer information, merchandise, equipment, and company vehicles
- Maintaining company vehicles within safe operating standards
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local requirements
- Completing paperwork and submitting required information to corporate support
- Managing customer concerns quickly, professionally, and effectively
- Planning, organizing, delegating, coordinating, and following up on tasks and assignments
- Protecting company assets and maintaining internal quality control standards
- Performing all other duties necessary for effective store management

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have a clean driving record for the past 5 years
- Meet company insurability requirements
- Have a clean background for the past 7 years
- Be able to pass a drug screen
- Be able to pass an acceptable reference check from previous employers
- Be able to drive during the day and night while meeting all company safety standards
- Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in person and over the phone with employees and customers
- Be able to work in-person at the assigned store location
- Be able to work Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM, as business needs require
Education and Experience
Preferred qualifications include:
- Prior management experience in Rent-To-Own, retail, sales, customer service, account management, merchandising, or another business-focused environment
- Experience leading, coaching, training, and developing a team
- Experience managing sales, customer accounts, inventory, cash assets, and store operations
- A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for the role
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on store leadership position. Candidates must be able to:
- Routinely lift, load, move, and handle merchandise ranging from 50 to 300 pounds with the use of a dolly or team lift
- Assist with deliveries, pickups, service calls, and merchandise handling when business needs require
- Bend, stoop, pull, push, climb, reach, grab, and carry merchandise as needed
- Traverse multiple flights of stairs while assisting with furniture, appliances, electronics, and home products
- Stand, walk, drive, and move for extended periods of time
- Work indoors and outdoors in various climates and weather conditions
