Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Aurelia is a private, ultra-premium 18-bed post-surgical recovery facility about to open in Santa Monica. The facility will be caring for a discerning, privacy-sensitive clientele recovering primarily from high-end luxury elective procedures. We are seeking a Director of Patient Care Services to lead our clinical enterprise.

The Director of Patient Care Services will carry full P&L and supervisory authority over the clinical operation, lead the nursing team, and own customer and surgeon relationships.

Compensation

Base salary of $150,000 plus a performance bonus of up to $300,000 based on personal performance metrics and tied to business performance. This is a founding leadership role with full P&L and supervisory authority over the clinical operation — compensation is designed to scale with the business you help build.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Patient Care Services – Must have clinical expertise required to oversee the patients post-surgical recovery experience.
Surgeon Relationships. Candidate must be able to maintain relationships with surgeons of the highest caliber. This requires maintaining excellent organization and communication with surgeon’s offices so surgeons are confident in our ability to care for their patients and comfortable with our working relationship.
Business Development – The candidate will also be an essential part of business development. New surgeons considering referring patients will primarily look at the DPCS as a representation of the business and patients seeking our website will also consider the trustworthiness and experience of our DPCS as a key factor in their choice of recovery facility.
Executive Management – The candidate will have PnL responsibility and ultimate responsibility or the administration and management of the clinical enterprise.

What We're Looking For

Active California RN and/or NP license - required. Nurse Practitioners are also encouraged to apply.
Aftercare Experience – strongly preferred – At least 5 years of experience hands on with patients recovering from surgery strongly preferred. Strong candidates from an ICU or PACU post-surgical background qualify.
Proven nursing leadership – strongly preferred. Experience as a charge nurse, supervisor, Director of Nursing, clinical manager, or equivalent leadership role.
High-end plastic surgery, concierge care, and luxury beauty and wellness experience — strongly preferred. Experience working with high-end plastic surgeons and with high net worth, discerning clientele.
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills - required. Candidate must have the interpersonal skills, professionalism, and discretion necessary to maintain the high-end luxury experience expected of our high net-worth clientele as well as to impress and maintain relationships with referring surgeons of the highest caliber.
Physical capability for hands-on care. This is an active, patient-facing role, as a boutique size facility the DPCS will always be involved in hands-on nursing care in order to remain connected to the patient experience and maintain quality control. Candidate must be able to stay on their feet for extended periods and assist directly with patient mobility, transfers, and care.
Entrepreneurial, invested, and high-ownership. Candidate must have the energy and desire to to build something and own the outcome. As an initial hire the candidate must invest in and believe in the venture.

Pre-Opening Phase and Scaling

Candidate should note that before opening their primary role will be working directly alongside the founder to build the operation to prepare for opening. The facility is complete, permits to open are on the schedule, and initial surgeon referral relationships are established. However, candidate will need to assist in standing up the nursing program — policies, workflows, staffing, training, medication systems, compliance, safety, and infection control — and helping build the clinical operation toward full licensure as the business grows. Candidate will also need to support founder in establishing other aspects of the venture as necessary.

After opening, candidate will be delivering much of the hands-on patient care themselves and as the operation scales, the role will shift to more management and leadership but ultimately retaining enough patient facing contact to remain plugged into the business operation.
