Full Job Description

DATA, EVALUATION & REPORTING

Primary Purpose:

The Communities In Schools of Greenbrier County (CISGC) is a 501©3 and accredited affiliate of the nation’s leading provider of Integrated Student Supports- serving at-risk and disadvantaged students in Greenbrier County since 2004.

The Student Support Specialist is responsible for the overall planning and successful coordination of CISGC’s Integrated Student Supports (ISS) model in compliance with CIS National’s accreditation standards. This is a full-time position working directly with students, families, school administrators, staff, and community partners to improve attendance, academics, behavior and overall well-being of the students we serve.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three years experience working with children and adolescents required. Associates Degree in a human service field (Social Work, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Human Relations, or related field) preferred.
Ability to analyze and interpret policies, procedures, research studies, student/program/community data, and governmental regulations.
Experience working with economically disadvantaged and marginalized children/youth- particularly those who may have experienced trauma, and other Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
Criminal background check, pre-employment drug test, and driving record check required, if applicable.

Skills Required

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant case management matters.
High levels of initiative, adaptability, creativity and organizational skills.
Ability to perform duties with no on-site supervision.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and people skills-including ability to speak effectively in group settings or one-on-one.
Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to urgent situations.
Ability to write and edit reports and other agency correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from agency leaders, clients, and the general public, orally and in writing.
Ability to assist students in developing higher level reasoning, decision making and problem-solving skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PROGRAM LEADERSHIP & PLANNING:

Build and lead a school-based support team that collaborates with school administrators, faculty, volunteers, and community partners to implement the CIS model.
Lead the annual needs assessment process using school and district data, surveys, and stakeholder input to identify school-wide and individual student needs.
Develop and implement an annual site support plan with measurable objectives and procedures for delivering school-wide (Tier I), targeted (Tier II), and intensive, individualized (Tier III) services.
Coordinate the delivery of evidence-based ISS services aligned with Academic, Behavior, Coursework/College/Career, and Parent Engagement focus areas.
Monitor and adjust services regularly to maximize effectiveness and student impact.
Assess needs of existing and potential caseload students, develop a support plan, provide services, track progress, document services and assess the progress of students.
Track service delivery and related information as required using the CIS Data Management system (CISDM) and other systems as directed.
Complete required correspondence and communication, including telephone and e-mail correspondence.
Share quarterly progress reports with school leadership, school support team, and affiliate leadership within established timelines.
Immediately communicate any challenges prohibiting the fulfillment of required responsibilities.
Report to CSIGC leadership issues affecting school relationships and emergency information.

STUDENT SUPPORT & CASE MANAGEMENT

Identify, support, and monitor students at moderate to high risk of dropping out,
providing targeted interventions to address attendance, academic, and behavioralneeds.
Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students through individual and group interventions, enrichment opportunities, and life skills development.
Work with parents/guardians to strengthen home-school connections, support academic success, and assist with career planning and post-secondary preparation. critical needs resources.
Remove academic barriers by coordinating access to health, dental, vision, and other critical resources.

DATA, EVALUATION & REPORTING

Conduct regular assessments and evaluate program outcomes to measure impact.
Maintain accurate and timely records related to student attributes, service delivery, donations, volunteer hours and others as directed.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for school and affiliate leadership in accordance with agency standards and policies.
Ensure compliance with CISGC’s record storage and retention policies.

COLLABORATION & PROFESSIONALISM

Maintain strong, positive relationships with school personnel, families, and community partners.
Participate in site team meetings, staff meetings, professional development, and other events to support student engagement and program effectiveness.
Demonstrate professionalism, cultural responsiveness, and serve as a positive role model for youth.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Thes school-based position is located within the Greenbrier County school district.
Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality are required.
Regular and satisfactory performance, including meeting all expectations, accreditation standards, deadlines and other stated deliverables, is required.
