Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Director & Embalming Apprentice to join our team at McAlister-Smith. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to provide exceptional service during difficult times. This role requires a strong understanding of both the logistical and emotional aspects of funeral services, ensuring that every detail is handled with care and respect.

Duties

Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including planning, logistics, and execution.
Provide bereavement support to families, helping them navigate their grief while making necessary arrangements.
Prepare deceased individuals for viewing by performing tasks such as sanitizing, cosmetology, and dressing.
Help with Transfer of decedents during office hours, as well as assistance with embalming of bodies.
Collaborate with other professionals in the industry, including cemeteries and crematories.
Uphold the highest standards of customer service while addressing the needs of grieving families.

Experience
Candidates should have a background in funeral directing or related fields. The following skills are essential or highly desirable:

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to ensure proper handling of remains.
Experience in sales to effectively communicate service options to families.
Strong customer service skills to provide compassionate support during challenging times.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required in the preparation and transportation of remains.
Familiarity with event planning to coordinate memorial services seamlessly.
