Full Job Description

Position Overview

This position is a step up from a purely administrative-support role and therefore intended for a candidate with hands-on HR process experience who is ready to co-own the day-to-day administration of leave, benefits, workers' compensation, and HR recordkeeping.

We are seeking an experienced HR Administrator to administer core HR programs and processes and assist with development of new ones. The ideal candidate will have references demonstrating the highest levels of accuracy, discretion and compliance awareness and superior skillsets escalating judgment calls, policy exceptions, and sensitive matters.

Candidates with strong foundational knowledge but less direct experience in certain areas may be considered and trained to reach full proficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

Administer employee leave programs (FMLA, state/local leave, company policy): process requests, track entitlements and balances, maintain compliant documentation
Process workers' compensation claims: complete incident paperwork, maintain claim files, coordinate with carriers, log return-to-work status
Administer benefits enrollment and changes, maintain vendor and eligibility files, and answer routine benefits questions
Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems and generate standard reports
Enforce the employee handbook, track policy acknowledgments, and distribute required notices and postings
Serve as first point of contact for routine HR questions, referring anything outside standard guidance
Support workplace investigations: scheduling, note-taking, and maintaining confidential files
Maintain compliance recordkeeping (postings, notices, documentation) for federal, state, and local employment law.
Coordinate recruiting logistics: interview scheduling, candidate communications, onboarding paperwork
Process, organize, and maintain HR documents and personnel files accurately and confidentially
Support HR and Operations projects as needed: data entry, reporting, audit prep, and new systems development and testing

Qualifications

Minimum of one (1) year of Human Resources experience required
Experience working within an HRIS (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, BambooHR, Workday, or similar) required
Working knowledge of core HR processes
Familiarity with investigation documentation standards
Foundational awareness of employment compliance laws and regulations (federal and California state law)
Strong organizational and people skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment with confidential information
High level of computer literacy; quick to learn new systems
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, and know when to escalate

Compensation

$22.00 - $23.00 per hour
Full-time schedule with consistent weekly hours
Clear growth path toward expanded HR responsibility as skills and business needs develop

Impact of the Role

The HR Administrator ensures that core HR programs run accurately and reliably day-to-day. This role is central to HR data integrity, compliance recordkeeping, and consistent execution of leave, benefits, and workers' compensation processes across the employee lifecycle, with a clear growth path toward broader HR responsibility.
