Position Summary

The Equipment Technician is responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of all equipment in the LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) injection molding facility. This role ensures that machinery and production equipment operate efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting smooth production processes. The Equipment Technician will work closely with the production and engineering teams to address technical issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure a safe and functional working environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all LSR injection molding equipment, including molding machines, robots, and auxiliary equipment (ovens, chillers, pumps, etc.). Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to ensure optimal equipment performance. Respond quickly to machine breakdowns and troubleshoot malfunctions to minimize downtime and disruptions to production
Equipment Installation & Setup: Ensure that all equipment is clean and ready for use. Perform monthly test on all safety systems and work closely with the Process Engineering and Production teams during new equipment introductions to ensure smooth integration into the production process.
Preventive Maintenance Programs: Implement and follow preventive maintenance schedules to ensure equipment longevity and reliability. •Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance tasks such as lubrication, part replacement, cleaning, and testing of equipment components
Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Utilize technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective solutions. Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to resolve recurring problems and improve equipment reliability. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on major breakdowns or malfunctions and provide recommendations for preventing future occurrences
Tooling & Mold Maintenance: Support the maintenance of LSR molds, including cleaning, inspection, and repair of mold components. Ensure that molds are properly stored and handled to avoid damage and ensure readiness for production. •Work with the Tooling Maintenance team to address mold issues and ensure optimal performance during molding cycles.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all equipment repairs and maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with company safety policies and industry regulations. Participate in safety audits and risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and taking corrective actions as needed. Keep equipment areas clean and organized, following proper safety and environmental protocols
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of equipment repairs, maintenance activities, and part replacements in the maintenance management system (CMMS or ERP). Track and report on equipment performance metrics, including downtime, meantime between failures (MTBF), and repair times. Report any recurring issues or significant equipment concerns to the Sr. Equipment Tech & Supervisor and recommend solutions for long-term improvement.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring that critical components and supplies are available for repairs and preventive maintenance. Collaborate with the Sr. Equipment Tech & Supervisor to order replacement parts and maintain appropriate stock levels to avoid equipment downtime. Ensure proper storage of spare parts and tools in an organized and efficient manner.

Additional Job Responsibilities

Provide support for all facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and troubleshooting of facility equipment and process support systems.
Assist in training operators and junior technicians on basic troubleshooting techniques and proper equipment operation to prevent unnecessary breakdowns.
Support process improvement initiatives by providing technical insights into equipment capabilities and potential areas for optimization

Requirements

High school diploma, or equivalent.
3 years’ experience working in industrial maintenance environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with LSR injection molding machinery, robotics, and auxiliary equipment is highly desirable.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting and inventory management (CMMS or ERP experience preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

Experience with mold maintenance and repair in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Forklift certification and ability to operate material handling equipment

Work Conditions/Other

Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks often, ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
Working with light to heavy machinery.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work in confined area with loud noise, extreme temperatures.
