Farmers Insurance District 80 is seeking motivated, entrepreneurial professionals who are ready to build and grow their own insurance agency in San Jose and the surrounding communities. As a Farmers Agency Owner, you'll combine the independence of business ownership with the backing of one of the nation's most recognized insurance brands.

Whether your background is in sales, management, finance, or another customer-focused profession, we'll provide the training, mentorship, and business coaching needed to help you launch and grow a successful agency.

As a Farmers Agency Owner, you'll have the opportunity to build a team, develop lasting client relationships, generate long-term renewal income, and create a business that can grow in value over time.

District 80 is committed to helping new agency owners succeed through hands-on coaching, structured onboarding, ongoing business consulting, and access to industry-leading training. From licensing and agency launch to long-term growth, our team will be with you every step of the way.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

Previous experience in sales, business development, management, customer service, or another client-facing role is preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to build and grow a successful business.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a performance-driven environment.
Ability to recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Comfortable networking and building relationships within the local community.

Licensing & Eligibility:

Active California Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance licenses, or willingness to obtain them (licensing support provided).
Ability to successfully complete Farmers' background screening process.
Ability to demonstrate access to at least $100,000 in liquid assets to meet Farmers' financial eligibility requirements. This is not a fee paid to Farmers—it is intended to ensure new agency owners have the capital needed to hire staff, establish an office, and grow their business.

What Will Set You Apart:

Previous insurance, financial services, or small business ownership experience.
Experience leading a sales team or managing employees.
An established professional network or strong referral relationships within your community.
Experience in referral-driven industries such as real estate, mortgage lending, banking, financial services, automotive sales, or business-to-business sales.
A proven ability to leverage existing relationships, community connections, and professional networks to generate new business.
Passion for serving your community while building a long-term business and creating lasting client relationships.

Responsibilities

Build and grow your own Farmers Insurance agency by developing new business and delivering exceptional customer service.
Prospect for new clients through networking, referrals, community involvement, and business development activities.
Conduct needs-based insurance reviews and recommend personalized coverage solutions for individuals, families, and businesses.
Develop long-term client relationships through ongoing service, policy reviews, and proactive communication.
Recruit, hire, train, and lead a high-performing agency team.
Establish relationships with local businesses, real estate professionals, mortgage lenders, and other referral partners.
Manage the day-to-day operations of your agency while implementing strategies to drive growth and profitability.
Participate in ongoing training, business coaching, and professional development through Farmers Insurance and District 80.
Leverage Farmers' technology, marketing resources, and business tools to grow your agency.
Represent the Farmers brand with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to serving your local community.
