JOB
SPECIAL EVENTS STAFF(Recreation Assistant - Job Code 9325)
Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

THE POSITION
The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested working special events operated by the Library and Recreation Services Department. In this role, individuals will help set up and take down events and work the events while giving great customer service to the public. The work schedule is based on the events that are coming up, with 5 to 20 hours available for each event. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES May include, but are not limited to, the following:

Follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently
Responsible for set up and tear down of overall event
Monitor or manage interactive event areas such as arts & crafts station, games, sports and activities
Oversee event participants ensuring that proper safety measures are being followed
Assist Event Coordinator with day of duties and support where needed
Collect equipment after the event and properly store away the items
Attend assigned special events throughout the city to observe and document event operations on a post-event survey
Perform related work as required

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing personal customer service. The need to lift, drag and push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds is also required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodation.

Note: The minimum qualifications for experience are based on full-time experience (40 hours per week). Experience included in the Work Experience section of the application is calculated to the full-time equivalent (hours are pro-rated if less than 40 hours/week). Volunteer experience is not considered qualifying experience.

SELECTION PROCESS:
