Full Job Description

TITLE: Executive Director

DESCRIPTION I SUMMARY:

The Executive Director represents the Agency, those whom the Agency serves and the community. We are seeking a dynamic individual, with vision and excellent communication skills to interact with peers, legislators, current and prospective donors, the media and community are required. Most importantly, this person must truly believe in and live the philosophy of independent living- that individual choice and personal decision making are the mission of all involved in this Agency - and - must have the proven ability to advocate for disability rights and to increase public awareness on disability-related issues.

STATUS: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Experience: Five (5) years of human service program provision and/ or administration; minimum 5 years of supervisory experience. Individuals with a disability are highly encouraged to apply.

License: An insured vehicle and valid driver's license or ability to arrange own transportation required. Travel throughout state is required.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Assistant Director, program managers, and their subordinates; and direct or cause to be directed all operations of indiGO.

REPORTING SUPERVISOR: Board of Directors of indiGO

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Responsible for the overall fiscal management including budget preparation and monitoring. Oversee the financial status of the organization including developing long and short-range goals. Set financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of its programs and staff.

2. Coordinate and be involved in systems advocacy efforts regionally, statewide and nationally.

3. Prepare and submit appropriate grant applications that are consistent with the agency mission. Coordinate all fundraising activities as determined by the Board of Directors.

4. Lead the management team, hire, recruit, train, motivate and supervise staff members including conducting staff performance evaluations.

5. Plan, implement and evaluate new programs and coordinate existing services in the 8-county service area.

6. Liaison to the Board of Directors.

7. Act as liaison to local, state and national organizations and legislative entities to promote services for people with disabilities. This includes but is not limited to participating in achieving the goals and relevant activities of the Wisconsin Coalition of Independent Living Centers (WCILC) as appropriate.

8. Practice and promote the Independent Living Philosophy in all aspects of this position.

9. Practice and promote good safety protocols.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as budgets, payroll documents, letters, policies, instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with consumers, co-workers, and organizations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and budgeting software.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract and multiply.

TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS: Up to 10% of travel requirements around the state and possibly nationally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in an office setting and community setting. The employees will routinely use standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, copy machine and fax program.

SALARY: Starting wage is between $75,000 - $85,000 that is allowed with the agency’s budget and the applicant's experience and expertise taken into consideration. Competitive benefits are offered.
