Bert’s Welding LLC is a growing welding and structural steel company serving commercial, residential, and industrial projects throughout the Carolinas and surrounding areas.
Our work includes structural steel fabrication and erection, field welding, steel repairs, miscellaneous metals, equipment installation, and other welding and construction projects.
We are looking for a dependable Structural Welder / Ironworker who takes pride in their work, works safely, and can be trusted to get the job done correctly.
This is not strictly a shop welding position. Applicants should be comfortable working in the field, working at heights, handling structural steel, and performing physically demanding work.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and install structural and miscellaneous steel
- Weld structural steel in the shop and in the field
- Erect beams, columns, HSS, angle, plate, stairs, railings, and other steel components
- Read and understand structural drawings, shop drawings, and basic blueprints
- Measure, lay out, fit, cut, grind, and weld steel
- Perform SMAW/Stick and MIG/FCAW welding as required
- Use oxy-fuel torches, grinders, saws, drills, mag drills, and other fabrication equipment
- Bolt and weld structural steel connections
- Assist with rigging, signaling, and setting structural steel
- Work from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and elevated work areas
- Load and unload steel, tools, and equipment
- Maintain company tools, equipment, trucks, and work areas
- Follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures
- Work efficiently as part of a small crew
- Perform other welding, fabrication, erection, and construction-related duties as needed
Qualifications
Preferred applicants will have:
- Structural welding and/or ironworking experience
- Experience erecting structural steel
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Ability to read structural drawings and shop drawings
- Experience with Stick/SMAW welding
- Experience with MIG/FCAW welding
- Experience using torches, grinders, saws, drills, and common ironworking tools
- Basic knowledge of structural steel connections and erection
- Rigging and signaling experience
- Experience operating or working around telehandlers, forklifts, aerial lifts, and similar construction equipment
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus
- AWS welding certification is a plus
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must show up on time and ready to work
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Must be able to lift and handle heavy materials and equipment
- Must be willing to travel when projects require it
- Must follow job-site and company safety requirements
- Must be able to work well with others and take direction
- Must maintain a professional attitude around customers, contractors, and other trades
Welding applicants may be required to complete a weld test before hire.

Pay
Pay is based on experience, welding ability, ironworking experience, and overall skill level.
Experienced structural welders and ironworkers are encouraged to apply.
Overtime may be available depending on workload and project schedule.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
